The Vault: We Visited the Haunted Island of Galveston, TX

Hello, everybody, and welcome back to Three Cups in a Dash podcast. Today I am joined once again by the fabulous Michelle. Hello. And the wonderful Carissa. Hello, hello. Now, these ladies just recently went on an adventure, and we are here to hear all about it. You guys went to Galveston, correct? Yes. And I haven't heard any of this. So I'm actually really excited to hear the unfoldings and just the experiences you had. So I'm gonna sit back and ask all my obnoxious questions, and I want you guys to dive right in.

You're gonna love my dive in with a question because of course I have a question. And if I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking listeners might be wondering about this too. But when you go into a location with spiritual activity, are there only stuck spirits that need to cross in that location? Or have spirits that have already crossed over, can they come back and be in that location also? Because it meant something to them.

I love that question. And I I right off the bat, I think I can answer it if that's okay. Please. A hundred percent they can come back. So one of the things that you have to remember is like with Carissa doing the connection sessions and things along those lines, we're bringing spirit back to meet our higher vibration. So there's no reason that our our spirit, whatever it's no longer in the meat suits we're wearing, can't go back to the places we loved while we were in our meat suit. So, like I don't think it hauntings are all bad. A haunting could just be a spirit popping in to see what's happening with a house that they built, you know, something that they loved, right?

Okay, and that makes so much sense. I just wanted to clarify that because we learned a lot of lessons while we were in Galveston. I think each of the three locations we visited so far, there's been a lesson that's come through. And the lesson in Galveston is completely different than the other two places. Like when we went to the Sally house, we learned that the house can really affect your moods. We learned that you can feel that darkness and heaviness right off the bat, and what that felt like. And then we go to the next location, which is the Driscoll Hotel. That feels so light and airy, and it feels like just a train station of activity. And then we go to Galveston, and there's another lesson there completely.

What I learned from the Galveston is you shouldn't walk into a place and assume that you're supposed to cross spirits over. Like this community cherishes and honors the stuck spirits, they love them, they talk about them. Oh, you know, I saw this one come in, so and so. It is not scary or spooky, it's actually warm and lovely. And so for us to walk in and go, Oh, okay, well, we got to pick stuff up, and what spirits do we have to cross? Was a bit, you know, for me, I was like, Oh, that was that was a good, I guess an ego check. Let's say ego check. No, you don't have to. So you come in and you experience what you experience and you connect with the community. What is the community like? What does the community want? It it was so interesting. And the way they come through were so different than the Driscoll or the Sally House.

She unpacked a lot there, and everything you said is a hundred percent correct from our experience. Going in there, that community, as Chrissa said, it completely welcomes visitors and it encourages them to ask questions and to be present and to learn about their community. And it just has this lighter vibe that feels, you know, just that community vibe. It's, I don't know how else to explain it. It was really, really cool.

I'm gonna jump in and just say that it sounds like it's it's very kind of culturally related because you have to remember everywhere you go is a different culture. Every house you enter is a different culture. I mean, we have cultures within cultures within cultures too. So that that doesn't really surprise me that you stepped into this beautiful energetic culture that supports, you know, the the the way spirituality essentially, I feel like should should maybe be supported. I mean, but I mean, look at Dia de los Muertos, the day of the dead. You know, there are different cultures that celebrate that so differently than, you know, I think we tend to do when we step into fear.

We have um, again, so much to unpack here. We did a couple of tours while we were in Galveston, and the information that we got from the guides, they were so incredibly knowledgeable. And I remember right before we got out of the car because one of um one of the tours was in like this. I should look. What kind of car was it, Chris?

So like a replica of a not a golf cart, but I don't know. I don't know how to say it. Like an old-timey looking fast golf cart, buggy, maybe a buggy, but it was a Model T car.

I had to look at my car. It was open air, it was a little cold, and so our guide went and got us blankets. And honestly, I was a little more fearful because it was an open air car of the people walking the streets. I remember as we pulled up to get the blankets, there was a little bit of activity there that I'm like, what's that? What's that? What's that? And you know, just being mindful of my physical body being alert, but then it all balanced out. And before we left that last tour, she said, you know, think of the kids whose lives were lost during the hurricane. And when they are pulled back to this area, they see this grand hotel go up because the Galveston wasn't there when the hurricane happened. They're like, that's like a castle to them. And that's why they're drawn there. It's like a place where they can play. I mean, they have suites there, they have toys there, they have people there, they can be a little mischievous, run the halls, do things like that. So for them, like that hotel just symbolizes their castle, their paradox. And I thought that was so cool the way she explained that. What was her name and her company? And I'm gonna put all of this in the show. Okay, good. Her name was Jen, and she owns Spooky Galveston, Spooky Galveston, but she was conducting a tour for the carriage house, which is the one that owns the the open air car tours. But she was like a guest guide, and man, she nailed it.

She's also an intuitive, too. I I right when I looked in her eyes, and I was like, Oh, yep. Hello, lady. She also said, I this was our last night there, and I said, You know, it's so interesting because we're not picking up things we normally pick up and like in our house or the last two places. And she goes, Yeah, do you know why? And I was like, Oh, why? And she goes, Because it's understated, the activity here is understated. Isn't that cool?

Understated, yeah, which is true. Like you'll see something in the mirror when you take a picture or paintings, there'll be a face that comes out of the painting, or my water bottle.

Oh, yeah, we'll have to share that story because that was pretty remarkable. But what Jen said about it being understated and just coming up with that language, that was like our whole experience there because Carissa and I would have conversations about something with nobody else around. We would go out into the community and randomly someone would answer our question. It's like everybody's tapped into that connection, if that makes sense. Everybody's tapped into that energy and it was so incredibly cool. Yeah. We did have lots of experiences, but like, why don't we rewind a little and go back to like coming into Houston because Carissa was generous enough, she picked me up at the airport. But while I was on the plane, I decided to listen to an episode, actually, two episodes of Morbid, which is a podcast, and they were talking about the place I'm going next. And unfortunately, neither of you will be there with me, but hopefully there'll be something we can talk about there. But I just wanted to listen and I felt pulled to listen to it right then. And first episode went by, took down my notes, second episode started, and they immediately mentioned Galveston, which how weird is that? I'm flying to Houston to go to Galveston, and they're talking about the Galveston 11 and how he was caught in Pasadena. Well, of course, I'm a West Coast, I'm a West Coast girl, so I'm thinking, oh, Pasadena, California. Okay. So I kind of put that in my bank. I'm telling Carissa, like it was really weird. I'm listening to something, a story about Iowa, and they bring in Galveston, Texas. And this guy who was caught in Pasadena, she goes, Pasadena, Texas, you know, we're driving through it right now, right? And I'm like, what? I didn't even know there was a Pasadena, Texas, but there you kind of have it. So that criminal aspect, that tie back to true crime was there throughout this whole thing, too. And really for me, what it felt like was I'm on a journey and I'm going to these locations that seem to somehow be connected. And I could almost on this trip see the undercurrent and the tie-ins. It was so incredibly eye-opening to me.

So then, you know, she picks me up, takes us to the Galveston. We check in, we're up in her room. 501. 501.

But I was saying 525 because that was at the Driscoll, but no, you're a 501. The spooky, the spooky haunted room. And again, it's this it's that like a Romeo and Juliet story.

Oh, yeah. So if you remember last episode that was released, we I asked the question about the Ouija board. Like, would you ever consider taking a Ouija board? And we walked into her room and there was a Ouija board sitting right there.

And Stacey had on a poster or something hanging up last time. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. In my office, I have I have a fabric Ouija board that I I have on. Which is new. Yes. Relatively new within the past like two months. Yes.

You can't make this stuff up. You can't. And then it was really cool because I have these ghost vision goggles, and they are the most ridiculous thing to wear, but you they help in meditation and they generate AI images. I don't know how else to say it, but I'm sitting there with these goggles on having this meditative session, and an image of the Ouija board comes up. I cannot make this up. I think we sent the picture to you, and I have it. So we'll we'll put it on social media also. But there was a huge tie-in to that Ouija board. Also, in that room, which I mentioned in the other episode, was whenever Chris and I are around each other, a pillow or something falls over and it happened again. Like we were just in a room and talking, and all of a sudden a pillow which was leaning this way just went boop and fell over.

There you go. I do have to say the first night, second and third night slept like a baby. So when y'all go stay, don't be afraid, man. You're gonna sleep like a baby, more than likely. I don't want to freak y'all out about the hotel. I don't know, this may increase the hotel sales. So the first night I woke up. You know how it is when you wake up in the middle and you're like in the middle of the night and you feel someone in the room, and you're like, all right, I always have an eye mask. I keep my eyes closed. All right, let me tap in, see who it is. I could not, but I knew someone was there. And so I was about to go, oh no, no, no. I woke up with a racing heartbeat. That was it. Racing all of a sudden, just woke, no bad dream, nothing. It's like, all right, who you are? You it's cool, you know, let's talk. Couldn't, couldn't, and so couldn't pick them up, about to take the eye mask off. And one of my spirit guides go, Don't take it off. I said, Oh, okay, you know, and I just did it, said a little loving prayer for the room and everything, and immediately fell back asleep. Now, scientifically or medically or neurobiologically speaking, you can't go from a racing heart to fall asleep. Right. And so back in the day, I would have said, Oh my god, I need to go to the doctor. I've woken up with something's wrong with my heart. I wasn't having having a bad dream. Thank God I am where I am today. And no, I have so much clarity about what it is.

And I'd like to add two things to that. One of them being that first night we were there, we were working with the spirit box. And I told you how the Galveston 11 came in as we were driving over. But Chris is like, let me put it in, let me listen. And as she's listening, one of the words she said was one of the guys who was arrested for the Texas killing field. So he was also connected, but it was a weird name. It was like Reese or Reese or something like that. And that was his name. So it's not like William, Bill, John, Joe, whatever. It was connected to the actual crime. And then she had a visualization of a girl, young girl, getting into an older car. So we explored that a little bit. So that was leading up to this racing heartbeat. So who's in a room? Well, again, I'm in the room across the street. I didn't wake up thinking someone was in my room, but I did have an experience with a dream, racing heartbeat, waking up also, and then falling back to sleep. It's a dream I've had before, but I haven't had it for a year, 18 months. But was it connected? It kind of feels like it.

Yeah. I think you intuitively picked it up too. But what's it felt like you knew what was happening intuitively?

You know how Michelle calls herself the uh clueless psychic. I swear to god, I'll be thinking something on the trip, and then she'll she'll be like, you know what? Blah blah blah blah blah. I'm like, motherfucker, stop. Stop. Or like, I can't tell you how many times uh I've thought on the phone, like, oh, I should tell Michelle that, and then she's texting. And finally, I'm like, You need to you need to get out of my head. You need to get, oh, you know what else she did, Stacy? What else did she do?

So we went on what are they called? Oh, a segue tour. Segway tour, right? And I I'm on TikTok, and so with the helmet, I had I had seen a video about how you could put a little thin maxi pad in your hat and you won't sweat. So I was like, Oh, I'm gonna do this while I'm in Galveston, I'm gonna put little maxi pads in my hat. I was like, brilliant. I'm putting this nasty ass helmet on. I'm putting my maxi pad. Michelle took pictures of me, and then when I got done with the whole tour, I look, what do you think's hanging out?

Of course. Uh, the definitely the maxi pad is definitely hanging out, and I'm so glad you took pictures of it, Michelle.

I didn't. I we were just in front of a cool place, and the guy's like, Can I take your picture? So I gave him my camera. I didn't zoom in, but of course, Chris was like, What do I look like? Zooming in and stuff. She's like, It's hanging out. I'll have to show you that too.

You're a fun person to travel with. I will just say that because I have more stories today. So we did do the Segway tour, which that was kind of humorous in and of itself, watching us on these things. I've been on one before, but it takes that little curve or that learning period. But it all worked out. We weren't injured, we didn't wreck anything. And then that night we had heard they do a tour of the Hotel Galvez. And so we had a guided tour that night with this wonderful lady. Her name is Melissa Hall, and you can find her on Ghostess of Galveston on like or Facebook and ghostessofgalveston at gmail.com. I'll put it all in the show notes. But she was amazing. She she worked at the hotel. She has gotten to know these spirits, she knows the history of the hotel. She was absolutely fabulous. She was so detailed and probably so annoyed with me by the end of it because you know I see faces everywhere and I'm looking at pictures. I'm like, oh, look, look, look at this. Or I'm playing with this piece of equipment. Oh, look what it said. And one of the words that came up, she did say it was one of the family names in Galveston, one of the big family names, which I thought was kind of cool. That is really cool. I think I was obnoxious there, Chris. I felt a little obnoxious afterwards.

I'm just like sitting here enthralled by the name of the the ghostess. Like, I think that's so good, so clever.

Yeah, and she's beautiful, and the name fits her so well. And not only did she have the tour, but you know, when you're good at your job, people are gonna come come back. And she's had a lot of people bring photos to her, and so she had a whole collection of validation photos of a man in the bathroom because there was a bathroom there. If you go in there and you ask him, yeah, we didn't get that photo, but she had photos of it, so we got to see it. Isn't that wild? The understated.

I've never heard of that where you don't really pick much up unless they're understated. Quote isn't that interesting? It's I don't know. I'm kind of I'm like blown away a little bit.

I know, and she was so knowledgeable, and she told us about all the places to go in the hotel where maybe we would feel activity. And I will say, Krista and I were a little bit dumbasses in this one place because she's showing us a picture, and I take a picture and I'm like, Yeah, there are two people sitting right there, and they were like mannequins, like in the picture. I thought that's what she was showing us to be go or something else in it. I'm like, but there are two people right there too, but they were mannequins. I felt a little bit stupid. But hey, I was in the experience in the moment, and I'm you know, technically, I well, I really am a blonde, I just dye my hair darker. But part of that story too is again, she's telling us all these places in the hotel to go, or we're not supposed to go. And there are two floors in the hotel not open to the public, they're either under renovation or I don't know, for some reason, not open. And only one of the elevators goes all the way up. And she made the mistake of telling us. So, of course, Carissa is like, let's go out, let's go see, let's let's see what's up there. And I'm like, No, I don't think that feels right. She's like, No, let's do it. And so we did, and we had another Swiffer moment where she gets freaked out and almost like attacked me with a broom.

We almost got locked in the stairway, and we almost got locked in the stairway too. And I'm like, all horror stories start this way, like, this is just scary.

Probably, probably. I would I would probably do it and then think about it after and be like, that was probably a dumb move. Because that's that's my thing, is like I just do things and then I go, Oh no, that was not the greatest choice. Like, I'll throw out there that if I was in a horror story, I would be the idiot going, Hello, is anybody here? I would I would not be that person when we get together and and do one of these trips, the three of us, you it's yes, that's those are the words. It's going to be absolutely hilarious. And actually, side side note, a friend of mine recently invited me to join them on a trip to Mount Washington here in New Hampshire, which is one of the most haunted hotels in my state. So we'll see. I don't know where the details write it down. Yeah, notes because I almost forgot.

And I think you know, moving forward, because we really want to keep doing this, just write, yeah, taking a journal with us and being sure to write things down as they happened. So that night, you know, we got scared upstairs. We decide to go back to our rooms, and you know, we're just playing with the equipment. And here's my advice to anybody wanting to do this. Understand the equipment before you bring it and think it's gonna work because there's a learning curve. And I twice now I've stepped into the fact that I need to like go to YouTube and watch videos on it because it doesn't all always work. But we did go back to Carissa's room, and in that moment, she did have an opportunity to cross over a young boy who she had assistance with his family, right? His family came in.

Yeah, it was I didn't, I I just held space, and it was a young Native American boy and his family. I've never seen a crossing over like this ever. I mean, it was like one, it's like one in the movie. It's it literally felt like a Hollywood movie where I'm holding space and his ancestors, it's like a literally a white light coming down and and enveloping him, and I'm just holding space. I was like, that's like the it's so guys, it's really not like that, but I did have one like that in the movies. That's what it looked like. It was lovely. Oh, it was I just it warmed my heart.

It was quite moving just to witness too. And then the last night we were there, we did the other tour with Jen. That was her name, right? Yeah, Jen. And that was fabulous. But before we went on this tour, because it didn't start till 9:30. And you know, I'm usually in bed by 9:30. So I'm having to like pump myself up, like you got this. We went to a really nice dinner, went back to the room, and we that day had gone shopping and we went to the witchery, right? That was the name of it. Oh, love that store. Yeah, and they had a lot of cool, like tarot, like everything you can imagine. So we went there and we each bought deck. I think Carissa got a couple of tarot cards. So when we went back to the room after dinner that night, we had a couple hours before our tour and we pulled a couple of cards. And everything Carissa pulled had to do with a young girl and water. And everything I pulled, I believe had to do with water also. And she's like, I think we're gonna come into contact with uh one of the young drowning victims. And I'm like, Okay, well, we'll see where the night takes us. So we're getting ready to leave. And Carissa had ordered room service right before he went, and at the end of the bed, she had set like a vase of like a little carafe, I guess, of water, and sat it down. It wasn't leaking, it didn't spill, it just was sitting there. And I know there's condensation, but just bear with me.

I had it there the last two nights, though.

Yeah, she had had it there for two nights, and we left, went on the tour, had this fabulous time with Jen, all of her stories, all of the history. We came back to Carissa's room and she's like, Oh, isn't that interesting? I lifted up the craft and it looked like a Victorian child's profile.

Wow. And I do have the picture of that also, which I'm like, you said a girl from the hurricane. Yes, it was a girl. Oh, it's water, yeah, she drowned. Yeah, yeah, she drowned. And I just put it together just now. I thought we talked about that.

So there was no logic really to it. And that it came out as a Victorian, the image of a Victorian girl. Again, that was the understatement. Right. It just said, yeah, just a little message, like, yep, yeah, it's cool.

And this hotel, as Carissa said, it wasn't a place you were afraid to sleep. I mean, that first night was a little bit rough for Carissa, but the other nights, like, we went to bed fairly early, got good night's sleeps, could a good night of sleep, and then could get up and go do whatever we wanted to do that day. I will say it was cool because during one of Carissa's meditative sessions, she saw an image of Carol Burnett. And I went back to my room that night and randomly turned on the TV, and there was Carol Burnett. So that was a little something understated that happened. But that was like the whole experience, like little things, again, conversations we had that were coming out in different ways in different areas.

You know, it's interesting. Having had the opportunity to hear your stories with the different places that you've been, listening to your story this time energetically to me actually feels really good and really calm. Not like overly excited, not like underwhelming, just like you know, just perfectly like balanced, like kind of one of those energies that you just want to sit in because you know that you're safe. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_02 26:40

Yeah. And the first night, what I really think that was is that I would have seen someone. I've seen my aunt, you know, my aunt appeared before me after she passed, it was her shoulder up and it was very brief. I say that I'm ready, but I don't know actually if I'm ready.

Well, your guides do though, and that's where if they come in and they're like, just chill, you're good. Yeah.

So I do want to again share about those ghost goggles, because I just was looking at my notes and like I can't pass this up. So as I said that first night we were there, I got the image of the Ouija board. The second night I put them on, or not, it was during the day, actually. I was meditating during the day, and I put them on and I got the image of like a burning building. And I'm like, this is so weird. I did this hotel burn down. I think I heard a hotel burned down, but the very distinguished feature in the image that AI generated was like this arc. I'm like, okay, well, that's very interesting. We did the tour, we hear there was a hotel that burned down. So I pulled up pictures, and while it doesn't look exactly the same, that arcs there, which I thought was really cool. I have no idea how these ghost goggles work or the technology, but they speak to me and I'm really enjoying them. I'm enjoying working with them.

It was right across the street from the Galvez. It was actually on the water and it was destroyed by fire.

Our guides come through with music on our phones and images through technology. It's like do do do knock on the door, see, see, guys. Yeah, it's real.

Yeah, it was just a really cool experience. And if anyone ever has a chance to go to Galveston, I'd highly recommend it.

Yeah, it sounds like it's such an amazing experience and opportunity to take to kind of learn and grow too. And you know, I think I think one of the things that I that I'm gonna throw out too, Michelle, that you pushed a little bit without thinking is just be open to all possibilities. Like that it feels like that that is the type of place. And I wasn't even there, but it feels like that's the type of place where if you just are open to anything or just all opportunities or growth, you're going to walk away with something. And you know, it's that's really, really, really cool.

Yeah. And again, for me, part of the big picture was that feeling of that underlying connection between all these places I'm visiting. Like there's a reason or a purpose, and they're all under like I can't even explain it, but going on it was that Pasadena, Galveston 11. While we were at the hotel during the tour of the hotel, the guide said that it opened on June 10th, 1911, which is exactly a year before the crime happened at the next location I'm going to. It happened on June 10th, 1912. So I'm like, okay, I'm seeing the string. And then as I was flying out, I randomly put on a show, which is an airport I in Omaha, Nebraska, that I'm going to be flying into. That was the town they were in for the show. So, like it's just that continuing piece. It's like to be continued, if that makes sense. It's like connected to be continued, you're on the right path. So weird, but so validating too. And again, the guides, the tours we took in Galveston were amazing. They're locals, they know the history, they have a passion for it, they're excited about their jobs, and they will give you all the time you need. They're not rushing you, they're not hurrying it through. Like this is your experience. We're excited to teach you. So here you go. Oh, really cool.

Don't be afraid. Go have fun. Stay in the room. If you want to stay with a friend, stay with a friend. Again, the Ouija board was just a confirmation for me to not be afraid. It's really, if you want to use it for your highest good and the good for all, it can be a means. You don't have to freak out and say, Oh, I can't have this in my house, or I can't have it anywhere near me. It's all about the intention. So that for me was just super cool to have that like whoa in the room. And the fear, like, because immediately I thought, should I put it outside my room? And then I said, No, absolutely not. This is silly.

Although I will say that were I to have a Ouija board in my room and look over and see it just moving on its own, I might be a little like, oh, oh shit, like that's happening.

Yeah, and we didn't try the Ouija board. I'll be honest, it we had other tools and equipment we were trying to work with. Chris's camera that she purchased would not work. And I purchased a ring camera.

I purchased a ring camera because all the reviews said this is great to take in the hotel room, and it would not connect.

Oh, interesting. Maybe it wasn't supposed to.

Yeah. Yeah. Then one other weird thing that happened, and I'm not saying it's connected, but it feels connected, is we left the hotel. Chris went back home. I went to visit my son and I looked at my arm and I had this bruise. And I'm like, oh my gosh, Chris, like do you know where I got this bruise? And she said, I have one in the same location. So I don't know what it was. Wait, that was where is that bruise?

It was on the forearm. Because I have had a nice dark bruise literally right here for almost a week now. And so that's kind of fun.

We just need to decide on where we're going next. We want to go East Coast, hopefully. There's been talk about Arizona. And real quick, very quick, when we went into the witchery, Chris and I were really thinking, oh, maybe New Orleans. There's a lot of activity there. So we walk in, and the first book we see is of New Orleans. And then we walk up to check out. And the guy who helped us was flying to New Orleans like the next day. And we're like, okay, maybe it's New Orleans. But so do you want New Orleans, Stacey?

Do I want New Orleans? Let's let's see what happens in my life moving forward. But heckin' yes, I want New Orleans. I've always wanted to go, anyways.

It's gonna be hot and humid that that day, but we'll do it. That's that's like me. I'm hot and humid. It's good. Not sure what the humid part means in reference to myself, but you know, we can just pretend that that isn't there. But yeah, we can definitely explore. I love it. That sounds funny. Okay.
