The Warren House: The Night Begins (Part One)

Hey everyone on this week's episode of Whispers from the Mist. You better buckle your seatbelts because today we are going inside the Warren House. But before I begin, I want to tell you that this is not the first time we tried to record this episode. Technical issues have followed this experience almost from the beginning, and this recording was no exception. As you listen, you may hear some electronic bleeps, glitches, and interruptions. We made the decision to leave some of them in there because whether they have a perfectly ordinary explanation or not, they were part of what happened while we were trying to tell this story. And if you've been following our worn episodes, you already know that this isn't the first time technology has behaved strangely while we've been talking about this house. We also want to take a moment to give a huge thank you to Elton, Ginger, Matt, Rick, Dylan, and Grace for giving us the opportunity to have this adventure and to experience this piece of paranormal history for ourselves. Everything you're about to hear is our experience of that night, what we saw, what we heard, what we felt, and how we interpreted those moments through our own intuition, our individual sensitivities, and the research we've done surrounding the house and its history. We're not here to tell you what you should believe. We're simply going to share what happened to us, talk through what we experienced, and let you come to your own conclusions. And as always, we'll continue this conversation the way we always do, exploring it together along the spiritual byway. So with that, this is part one, The Warren House. Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of Whiskers from the Mist, Conversations from the Spiritual Byway. I am Michelle, and Stacy's not here with us today, but I am here with my very good friends Bonnie DiAngelo. Hi, Bonnie. Hi, Michelle. And Jennifer Jones. Hi, Jen. Hi, Michelle. Thank you so much for having me. Thank you so much for coming and being here with me because as many of you know, we recently went into the haunted Warren House, and I'm gonna add the word haunted because it is. And it was the three of us, and we faced something predicted but not predicted. What do you think? How would you describe it?

I think that sounds about right. I felt like I knew what I was going to expect, but then it was a totally different experience.

How about you, Jen? Yeah, I'm on the same wavelength. We knew what to expect. I was not expecting it to be that much. It was a little over the top at some points.

And I know today we are not going to get everything into one episode because what the listeners don't know is we have already tried to record this episode, but the powers that be, the electronics around us, were not cooperating. So we each left that recording and we did protections around ourselves and came back like two days later, and here we are today. You think that was a continuation of the house reaching out?

SPEAKER_00 3:13

Seemed like it to me. I mean, after all the issues of with electronics you had prior and even during the investigation that we were having, it seems to be a common thread for sure. Definitely.

SPEAKER_02 3:24

And I do want the listeners to know also that when we went into the house, we could have had eight people, but for reasons I don't know why other people couldn't come. It was just the three of us. And I think that's exactly what it was meant to be and the experience we were meant to have. I also know that when we left the Warren House very early on that Wednesday morning, we all went separate directions. Bonnie and I went to the airport to catch flights to different locations. And Jen, you headed to Salem. I did to do some ancestral research. It was beautiful. Yes, and the timing was perfect because prior to meeting us, you had already decided you were going there. But you found out also that while you were in Salem, they were going to be celebrating the opening of the Haunted Warren Museum there in Salem, and they were having a big event. And it just so happened you were going to be there the night after staying in the Warren House. Yeah, the timing couldn't have been better. It was it was great. Well, I think today it would be a good idea to talk about where we each were prior to going into the house. So the first question I have for you is what did you expect before going into the Warren House? Did you have any expectations?

That's a big question. I did and and then I didn't, which was really strange. It's it's really strange to wrap my head around that because I think I was more hoping for things to happen or to experience. I expected a lot and yet I I wasn't sure if it was gonna happen. And but I was hoping. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_02 4:58

It does. It does. It's kind of a perfect summary of what that experience was like. What were you expecting, Jen?

SPEAKER_00 5:06

So I've done other investigations before, and I was kind of expecting it to be like that, where there'd be a few things that happened that were cool and exciting, but not much more than that. I really wasn't expecting the physiological responses that happened and just the immense amount of activity. Like it was it was just so much.

SPEAKER_02 5:27

And it was almost from the moment we walked into the house. I guess when I think about what I was expecting going into the Warren House, I kind of was leaving it open to the universe because we've been to the Belisca Axe House, we've been to the Sally house, um, I've been to other haunted locations, and every location teaches me something different. So I wasn't sure of what the message or the experience was going to be like at the Warren House. I left it kind of open. But this jumps us into my next question, which is do you guys feel like the house was reaching out to you prior to going in?

I feel like it was. I I definitely had some things going on. I still haven't sorted out yet what was causing what, but there was definitely some things reaching out. What about you? What was your case?

SPEAKER_02 6:18

I had quite a few things happen. I really do feel like Lorraine's energy was reaching out to me. I feel like I stepped into a memory that I couldn't place in my own life, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Oh, that's Lorraine and her grandson. It was like just showing me a quick glimpse of something. Of course, I can't confirm it, but I really feel in my heart that's what it was. I was picking up colors from Lorraine, it was like a peacock color blue. And I just thought that was so weird. Why the peacock? Why was that word so important? Well, Bonnie and I, when we went to Connecticut, we were there a couple days before, and there was peacock imagery everywhere. We did a reading and a peacock came across. We went into a store, there was a peacock there, and I'm like, that's so strange because I was picking up on that. But I think it also really spoke to who Lorraine was because being in the house, we found out that she was somebody who liked to look nice, even going out to get the mail. She was very chatty, she liked to be put together. And so when I think of a peacock, I just think of this beautiful bird that just likes to present itself in a certain way. Those are like two of the little things that came through. But like I feel like I'm talking too much, so I want to give Bonnie a chance to share with us.

I had one instance where I felt that the house was reaching out to me. And it was it was a physical sensation. And it lined up with something else that was real related to the house and the Warrens coming in at the same time. So I I I feel it's reaching out to me more now than it did before.

In what ways?

Well, I Yeah Um You don't have to share.

If you don't feel up to sharing, you don't have to share.

No, it's it's fine. It's just it's a lot because I'm feeling like presence and I'm feeling kind of like sensations and and areas in my house and it it it's kind of freaking me out a little bit. So we're talking about the way it's reaching out to me is more in a physical sense. So I I feel like a presence or I I f I feel like I hear something and I feel like it's it's just around me. And it's kinda it's kind of freaky. It's kind of freaky. Not gonna lie.

That's so alarming. I can definitely relate. I think in different ways. One of the the ways is when I would close my eyes at night, it was almost like there were flashes, like quick flashes, but also like like neurological pulsing at the same exact time.

SPEAKER_01 8:50

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00 8:51

Oh, that's interesting. So you've had that too.

SPEAKER_01 8:53

Yeah, flashes, like flashes, and and then and then I'm hearing outside of my head, and it's I don't know if I'm making it up, but it's a little freaky.

SPEAKER_00 9:05

This is so interesting because I th I think you might be along the same school of thought that you know our neurological system also operates like electrical. And so this whole time with all of the electrical systems that have been failing while we're trying to talk about this, and even in the videos that we're watching where the doll being transported and the vehicle having electrical failure, and now we're even noticing our own neurological things happening. It seems like it's all tied together. That's interesting.

SPEAKER_02 9:36

And it's really interesting that right now we are also having recording issues. Every single time we start to talk about this, the internet connection becomes poor and people start to freeze and words are not matching like the image of you. It's just so weird that this continues to happen. And I'm not having the reaction to this house that both of you have described. When I went into the Velisca X house, that one did reach out to me quite a bit afterwards. It really messed with my head. But this one, I feel like it was there for a couple days. The electronics now are still kind of wonky, but I think for the most part, I'm not hearing things or feeling presences. So maybe I'm the lucky one here. It sounds nice. I don't know. I don't know. Um, but one of the other experiences I wanted to share because this does really feed back into the story. I have two, and I will quickly mention in the last episode that you heard, Bonnie and I were talking about Elton Casty and the fact that he was one of the owners that purchased the Warren House. And when he did a marathon, the very first time he went in there, like an online teleth, he had internet issues that started from the Warren House. After recording that, I did listen to the episode, which I shared. And during that part, the recording got really scratchy, like something was trying to come through. And that freaked me out a little. But then that wasn't the end of the story because a couple of weeks later, when I was packing to go into the Warren House, the internet at my own private home went out completely. It didn't happen in the town, it didn't happen in my neighborhood. It was my house where the internet went out. And I had no internet for like 12 hours. So that was really weird because that is one thing that has stuck with me throughout this whole experience. And then when we finally went into the Warren House, there was Rick, who knew the Warrens, who was the caretaker, he was our guide. And one of the first stories he shared with us had to do with Elton's marathon or whatever you call it that he did in that location. So it's just really weird that that's one string that has stayed with me the whole trip.

Yes, that's totally kind of crazy when I think about it, but it because it has been an issue and batteries too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02 12:00

Yeah. And then the other story I want to tell because it's going to play into the next part of our conversation is the Warren House, when you go to visit, they are so kind. They give you a list of people that you can contact if you want to do a reading or something like that. So I did reach out to one of the practitioners. Her name is Kelly, and she was wonderful. And she was so helpful that she agreed to give us a private tour of her city, which I jumped on. I was super excited about that. I was super excited for all the information she shared with us. And then after texting her, I went into a back bedroom in my house, and on the floor was just a single penny. And I have no idea how that penny got there because nobody had been in the house. The house was clean since the last person was there. And the penny was the year 2017. And I knew it was related to her. So I asked, and she said, yes, 2017 was significant to her because it was the year she opened up spiritually. Wow. And that felt really confirming, like you're on the right track here, and this is meant to be. And so again, it's another line that we followed. And that's what my next question is going to be about because we all met up in Monroe, and we met up for a tour with Kelly and Jen. You were able to join us, and you were talking to Kelly before we got there. And what can you tell us about Kelly?

So I typically am a really nervous person when I'm meeting new people, but I felt very calm around Kelly and I feel like we just clicked really quickly. And I I also thought it was interesting. The dress that she was wearing was like the dress that I bought specifically for this trip. And then everything else that just kind of unfolded after meeting Kelly. I just all these little instances of synchronicities I just thought were really interesting. But yeah, Kelly was wonderful. The tour was so great.

Definitely. What did you think, Bonnie? What did the tour mean to you that we got to do with Monroe?

SPEAKER_01 13:58

Well, I love visiting cities in general and and then hearing the folklore and and the paranormal vibe of everything. It was wonderful. Kelly was full of knowledge. She took us to the right spots. And it it was a feeling of like knowing having known her for a long time. It was it was that comfortable and that sacred. It was it was kind of like why do you live so far away? She was she was great.

It was definitely that natural connection that I'm looking forward to exploring with all of you. Like I feel like we have our own little group now in which we can keep in contact, talk about this experience and what we're gonna do next. Love it. I'm looking forward to more. Yes, and Kelly, she is an energy worker. And so one of the things she did say is that she was not going to step foot on the Warren property because she is so sensitive to energy. And I respect that so much. But again, Jen, you surprised us. You were there at the thing, which was lovely. I was so happy to see you there. But she didn't know to bring you a bag of protection, like she brought to Bonnie and I. And so she was very good about saying she would drop it off later at the Warren House. So I'm just setting the story up for later. So remember that Kelly is going to drop by after we've already entered the house, but she's not gonna come in the house because something really neat happens when we get to that part of the story. So after the tour, we did go and we grabbed dinner. And then at 5:30, sharp, we showed up at the Warren property. Now, the Warren property is located at the end of a cul-de-sec and it is gated. And I know when we pulled up to the house, I was super excited because one of the images that I saw associated with Lorraine, or one of the images she shared with me, was that of pine needles. And on the gate were two pine reefs. And I just was like, what? They're there. This is already happening. This is already sinking up. How did you feel, Bonnie, pulling onto that property?

SPEAKER_01 16:04

I was just trying to take it all in. I was just looking around. I was noticing. I I noticed your reaction to the reefs, and it was astounding. It was so it was so wild how that connection came to fruition. It was it was pretty cool. But I actually thought you saw a spirit. That's how excited it was. But I I was very intrigued and I I wanted to get I wanted to get through those gates and I was ready.

But before we got through the gates, before they would open them for us, we had to sign waivers for both our physical bodies and our spiritual bodies.

SPEAKER_00 16:40

How did you feel about that, Jen? Uh, the waiver was that was the part when it really like hit the fan for me when I realized what I was getting myself into. I just had to take a deep breath and put those initials on those lines and power through.

SPEAKER_02 16:54

I was surprised. I mean, it was pretty in-depth. It covered everything. And it was a wonderful reminder that, you know, we really need to be responsible for our own protection and putting those barriers around us. And yeah, it hit me too, but I think I was just so overwhelmed by everything. I just kind of spaced out a little there too. But then after signing the waivers, we got to enter the house. And when we first went into the house, we had to watch a video, and it was about 12 minutes long. And then we got to have a wonderful tour with Rick. And I mentioned Rick earlier. And the thing about Rick is he's scientific-based, but he knew the Warrens. Like as a younger man, he met the Warrens. And so it was really cool from my perspective to get to talk to someone who knew them so well, who knew their dynamics together, who knew their personalities, and had gone on some of these, I don't know what to call them, these adventures, for lack of a better word, that Ed and Lorraine went on. He was very strong. He didn't seem afraid. And to me, he brought so much power and protection just by being there. How did you feel meeting Rick?

SPEAKER_01 18:10

I was very happy that he was there. I had seen him on other videos that I was researching and looking through, and he's always, he's always the one. I'm like, oh, I wonder if we're gonna get the same person. And we did, and I was like, yes. Through the videos I watched of him, I could feel his passion, I could feel his his whole demeanor around the place and how special he wants it to be. So I was just super excited. I was like, you know, ah, I'm not like ah, but I'm just like, I just love that I had we like fangirling. Yeah, a little a little bit, but not not in that way. But he he was fabulous. And I I really loved his passion and his drive to get the story out the way it should be told.

Yeah, I loved his enthusiasm. I don't know how he was upholding it. I was like, you've done this how many nights in a row so many times, and you still have so much like love and enthusiasm for the work that you do. And yeah, it was it was just really impressive. And then at the end of the night, I definitely was glad he was there. I felt safer that he was there. And uh yeah, I guess we'll get more into that later, but I definitely wanted him to come back.

We all wanted him to come back at that point, and I'm going to piggyback off both of you his passion, his excitement for the experience we were going to have. He didn't know what was going to unfold, so he was just there to help us through the night. I think it's really cool too because he spent some time not only talking to us about Ed Lorraine Warren, of course, but also Matt Reif, Elton Castie, and another important part of the equation, Ginger Castie and their passion for this. They don't want this to be someplace that people go to have like a jump scare experience. They're trying to hold true to the Warrens and who they were. Ed wanted his museum out there at the house. It couldn't be out there for everyone to see because of the location and the zoning. So they are making it happen. They are taking parts of the museum and they've moved it to Salem right now. And that's just a temporary location. We don't know where the final location is, though. Okay, so after watching the video and meeting Rick and Bonnie fangirling the way she was, Rick did give us a tour of the house. And Jen, do you want to tell us what the main level of that house felt like for you?

To me, it really felt just kind of like a normal, normal house to me. I think there was a little bit of heaviness, but I I mean I feel heaviness walking into other spaces as well. But it didn't feel dark or anything. I actually really enjoyed the older furniture that was there. It seemed to have just love in it. You made a joke about it being old lady furniture or somebody called it that. I was like, I like the old lady furniture. Like, bring it all back.

And how about for you, Bonnie? What did it feel like for you?

SPEAKER_01 21:02

It felt like a welcoming home. When we walk in, you see the kitchen and you see a picture of Lorraine with the turkey, and you just kind of go back to those days of they this was their home. This is where they they celebrated all of you know the holidays and did things and and did the other things. But that main level really felt homey and secure.

It was very comfortable. Yeah, definitely. Um, on the main level, you walk in, there's a kitchen, and then there's a living room space, and then you have Ed's bedroom, Lorraine's bedroom, and a bathroom on that level. Now, Rick, he did say the Warrens that was their place of celebration. Uh, he did talk about Ed's office and the fact that sometimes there is a shadow figure that walks through there. Thank God we didn't see that shadow figure, or maybe you guys did. I'm saying thank God I didn't. Um, but he said Lorraine's bedroom was very protected. And of course, I'm like, I'm sleeping. In there, but when you have to stay with me. After being on the main level, then we walked down the stairs to the basement. The basement I don't know exactly where to start, other than Bonnie immediately picked up a heavy or dark energy located to the left of her, which happened to be like a closet at this point that had a bunch of dolls, and on the other side was where Lorraine's office was. Bonnie, do you want to speak to that?

SPEAKER_01 22:28

I mean Okay, so yeah, y as soon as you walked down those stairs, you could feel a difference in the texture of of the room. It was weird. And we were standing there, and immediately from that space, I was looking sideways and immediately I felt like somebody or something had rushed up onto me. Like it was a sense of I'm like instantly I froze and I I had to put my hand up to the side. I I couldn't, you know, I wag I can't even think about I can't whoa. It had that kind of effect on me.

It was strong instantaneous. Yeah. How about you, Jen? How did you feel going into that basement?

SPEAKER_00 23:10

I did not like the basement at all. That was the room I felt the most uncomfortable with. Even with the museum, like I still didn't like the basement the most. And just for the listener's benefit, the space that Bonnie and Michelle are talking about is a room that has a bunch of dolls that were sent to the Warren House from others who said that the dolls were haunted. And then beyond that was Lorraine's office, right? And that room was really well protected, but you had to walk through the doll room to get into that room. So at first I was feeling very brave and I thought it would be interesting to stay in Lorraine's office and be able to experience everything that was, you know, happening just outside of that room. But it's that passageway that by the end of the night I couldn't get past that.

Yeah, you and Bonnie were saying, yeah, we'll sleep in Lorraine's office. And I'm like, but what about me? I really don't want to stay down there. Um, but I would have because I didn't want to be alone anywhere in that house for sure. So in this basement, we were then told that that is where Ed and Lorraine really got down to business. That's where they held their meetings about the demonology work, the exorcism work, all that darker energy. That's where they had the conversations. And we were also told that there is a lot of activity in that room and sometimes it gets physical. And that freaked me out so bad to think I could get scratched, I could get a chair thrown at me. Like I was very uncomfortable in that room.

When Rick described the wound, like they watched a cut on a woman's arm like open up, that messed with me. That freaked me out.

SPEAKER_02 24:47

Yeah, it was a lot down there. And I knew I definitely didn't want to sleep down there, but I wasn't gonna be left alone again. I already said that, but I'm reiterating that because I did get very uneasy when we were down there. After that, we were taken up to the room above the garage, and we were told that that room there wasn't a lot of activity, that many times after someone's had a huge event in the house, everyone will go upstairs to the place above the garage because there's no activity. And that's gonna play into like part two of the story a little bit. But then after that, we decided we would meet Rick downstairs by Ed's car at 8:30. So he left us about 6:15, 6:30, and we had a little bit of time there to get ourselves ready to go into the museum. Now, one of the very cool things about the Warren House is they leave all the equipment that we're going to need to have an experience. There are RIM pods, there are spirit watches, there are SLS cameras, there's everything you could think of there. So at that time we started putting together our toolbox. And that's when that main level started to get active. But I felt that was a very positive interaction. What do you want to share about that, Bonnie?

SPEAKER_01 26:11

Yeah, the second we turned on, I don't know what they're called again. Like this the Spirit Watches, they spirit talk. Spirit talker. It's it's in a watch style. Okay. So we have these on, and immediately words start coming through. And they're things like you're kind, you're authentic, all of the nice things building us up, making us feel loved and protected and safe. And it was in some random words, some somewhere random and and didn't make sense at the time. But it it was almost as though whoever was there wanted to build us up. And I think we made that connection of who was there because Michelle, you left a little gift for her. And that's when things really connected with with this soul. You want to share that?

SPEAKER_02 26:58

And you just completely lit my head up. As soon as you said that, I just had that feeling come up and over my head. But yes, while Bonnie and I were in Connecticut, we stopped at a little store. I found a figurine of an angel, a Mother Mary, something like that, rose quartz, and I purchased that for Lorraine, and Bonnie purchased paint brushes for Ed because he was a painter. And we decided to leave those in the house. And Bonnie, you said as soon as I put that on the mantle, what came through the spirit watch?

SPEAKER_01 27:31

God, angel, and pray. And of course, we all started with the Lord's Prayer, all of us in unison while we were continuing checking our batteries and setting up our equipment. We're praying over everything. It was such a connection that I think was one of the highlights of this trip. Not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_02 27:51

It was a huge highlight for me. How about you, Jen? What do you remember about that time?

SPEAKER_00 27:56

Yeah, I remembered we were still setting everything up and it came through. We were struggling with the SD cards. And you handed me the recorder, and I figured it out to set it up, and then it said whys across the thing. And I'm like, oh, that's sweet. And then after that, um, I kept saying more complimentary things like Bon was holding the camera, and then it said, like, you are enough, and like different things throughout while we were setting up, it was just dropping these compliments. And I'm like, oh my goodness. I was surprised because you know, you build up this expectation that you're walking into this house that has all this darkness and whatever dark heavier energy. I was like, wow, this house is awfully complimentary. Like, what's happening here? And I think that was sometime shortly after that, is when you made the connection of what was happening there.

Yeah, I definitely felt like when we were getting the equipment ready, it was Lorraine who was coming through. The energy felt very familiar to me, and that's who she was. I mean, you could talk to anybody who knew her, and they all said the same thing about her. She just was really for the people. She wanted to know you. She was well put together. So I really felt like that was her energy flowing through. And it was very interesting because, as I said earlier, Kelly was going to stop by. She was not going to come into the museum. She was going to wait outside the property for us. And I had received a text message. I said, Oh, she'll be here in a minute. And then one of your watches said, Kelly called. And that was like, it's talking to us. This is not just something random. This is actually having intelligent conversations with us based on what we're doing and what's happening to us at that moment.

I agree. So intelligent. I had to get a picture of it. And yeah, when we ran down then to show it to Kelly, like she started, like her shoulders started twitching too.

SPEAKER_02 29:46

Like she was having a response to what I'm like, you're not going to like us very much, but this is what the house just said, or this is what we just heard in the house. And yeah, she did have that physical reaction to it. And then we came back inside and we moved into like the living space, still were packing things up. And then Ed came through. And for me, the tone of the conversation changed from sweet and flowy to more curious. He was going to acknowledge that we were there. He said, Thank you for the brushes, but his answers were just short and concise. He did ask us. I believe it was him anyway, if we were investigators.

I I wrote down a few things that sounded like Ed. It was hello, my friend. Are you an investigator? I'm listening to everything.

That gives me goosebumps still to hear that. It brings me right back to being in that house. I know, right? Yeah. And about that time, you know, we've had this lovely conversation with Lorraine. Ed is coming through. We're feeling, I think, pretty energetic and excited about what's to come. We were supposed to meet Rick downstairs at 8 30. And it was like 8 28. And we were talking, like, do you think he's there? And Jen, what did the watch say to you in response?

Here. Just very to the point.

Here. Here. Yeah. Time to get your butts going. You can't stall any longer. Get the equipment. Let's go. And Bonnie, right before he went downstairs to meet Rick, it said another thing, the watch. What did it say?

SPEAKER_01 31:18

It said D-ride and had no idea. D-ride. Okay, we'll just remember that one.

SPEAKER_02 31:25

Right. So we went downstairs to meet Rick. And when we got there, he was a little bit distracted because he was hearing sounds around the fence. How are you feeling at that moment when he was distracted by what was going on outside the fence?

SPEAKER_01 31:40

I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna say he did look a little frazzled. And my spirit talker said we made the noises outside.

Yeah, it was a little unsettling for all of us, but we all kind of were like, okay, we're just gonna keep moving through the night. So we walked over to where Ed's car was parked. It's the one you've seen in the movies in the background, which I thought was kind of cool. And we found out her name was Daisy. And that really went back to for me, D-ride.

Exactly. Exactly. They're keeping us on our toes and dropping like these little Easter eggs that we're following, and they're all making sense at that point. Yeah. I will say about the garage, I thought it was really cool because it had so many of Ed's paintings out there. You know, the ones that we heard about where when he was younger, he would go and paint the homes and then go talk to the people about the stories behind them. I thought it was really cool to see those paintings. Very cool. Yeah, loved it. And after we were visiting by the car, we did walk over to the sanctuary. It was very nice of the current owners to leave each of us a rosary bead that we could wear or take with us into the museum. They actually also had a prayer dedicated to Dan Riviera. He worked a lot with Annabelle and recently passed. Um, but they had a lovely prayer prayer of protection. I believe it was his prayer of protection, if I'm remembering correctly. Do you remember?
