Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality
(@ThreeCups_and_a_Dash)
On this week's episode of Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality, we have our favorite skeptic coming back to visit us today. Yes, that's right. Stacey's husband Steve Curtis is here, and we're gonna check in and see how things have changed over the past year. Start the music. Welcome back to Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality. Today's episode feels a little extra special because we're welcoming back a familiar face and one of our favorite guests, Steve, who just happens to be Stacy's husband. If you remember his first visit, you remember that Steve came in as a bit of a skeptic, curious, open, but still grounded. And then he had an incredible dreamlike experience that made him realize there's more to this world than meets the eye. We're gonna fast forward things one year, and he's now been married to Stacy for almost 12 months, who is a full-fledged psychic medium. And we're just wondering, has he had a lot of you won't believe that type of moments? So today we thought it'd be fun to check back in to hear what it's really like living day to day with a psychic medium, whether he's noticed any new intuitive shifts on his own, and how that firsthand experience has shaped his perspective on the unseen. With all that, Steve, welcome back. We're so happy to have you here again.
SPEAKER_00Hello.
SPEAKER_01And of course, we're so happy to have Stacy here today. Hi, everybody.
SPEAKER_00That was so set mute, so I didn't think you could hear us, and I was waiting for you to push the button.
SPEAKER_01You were probably waiting for Michelle to stop talking because it seemed like a forever intro, which it kind of was, but I just am so happy you're here.
SPEAKER_00Hello.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you are a guest that so many people resonated with, and the episode that you did with us previously had a lot of listens. So thought we would bring you back and just kind of check in on how life's going, how it's treating you, and how is Stacy treating you most importantly?
SPEAKER_00Oh, she's terrible. Can't stand her. No, Stacy's great. I don't really know, like I think the biggest change is that things stopped happening when I had started talking to Stacy about like the weird dreams and things that I'd have. I don't know, she did something with her stuff and then like really just kind of stopped. I haven't really dealt with anything crazy in a long time. The weirdest thing was I don't even know how long ago it was at this point. There was I had a dream where it felt like there was something in the room that I didn't want it to be, and I pretty much just told it to leave, and then it was gone, and it was a really weird thing. I don't know, because there's a lot more to it, but it's really hard to like try and think about like how to word it. So there's it felt kind of a presence in the room, and I was kind of like, hey, I don't want you to be here, which is what Stacy told me I could do, and then it was just gone and it was never come back since. So that was probably the biggest thing, but I can't really like remember any like feeling of presences or like anything that I used to have growing up. I haven't felt it in a long time.
SPEAKER_02He has actually had some premonitions though, and things like that, where he's looked at something and said, Oh, I think XYZ is gonna happen. And it typically unfolds exactly how he says. So him saying that he nothing has happened is absolute baloney in the best way, but he does also do clearings. And and I don't think he realized that he was a lot of spirits have been drawn to him.
SPEAKER_01He's a beacon. Well, I do think just from listening to you, that maybe one of the things that have has really shifted for you in the last year is the fact that Stacy has taught you how to keep your boundaries or to hold your boundaries and to protect your energy a little bit more. I mean, there is a lot of power in having that knowledge that you can say leave or you're not welcome here. So I think that's wonderful.
SPEAKER_00I agree. I like it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I and you know, it's it's interesting because one of the things that I think we talked about early on is with me and my my protective nature, I'm gonna say at heart is things aren't allowed in our bedroom. So if there is that inkling that something is coming in, I think it sets both of us on high alert too. Not because of fear, not because of anything, but it's because that's that's my sacred space. My room is my safe, and I don't want, you know, spirits outside of like my guide or guardian angels coming into that space for any reason.
SPEAKER_01I do have a couple questions though for both you, Steve, and Stacy to jump in if you're up to them.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And the first question would be what is the energy like around your house today? Do you think it's calm and grounded? Or do you think there's spirits around right now that are perhaps eavesdropping?
SPEAKER_00It is very calm and grounded. I don't pick up on anything.
SPEAKER_02I I would I would agree with that. You know, I know one of the the things that we talk about is I'm kind of like a a door, like a we're both in many ways beacons for spirits to kind of come in and be cleared off. But I I think that's kind of almost an energy of itself. So we're not putting so much into I'm not putting so much into that anymore. And we're able to create, you know, this beautiful space where our animals are all super calm pretty much all the time. We have butt butt, who you saw earlier, who went from being the most uncuddly cat in the universe to, you know, waking up in the middle of the night and she's on our stomach or on our back and just like loving on everything. So I think over the past year the energy has shifted quite a bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I agree with that.
SPEAKER_01Shifted into just a calm, calm sense. And I know, as you said, your cat came in at the very beginning and it was kind of I think the other cat was coming too when Steve entered the room, and it's just like all in the family, everybody together. So a moment ago, Stacy was just talking about you having some premonitions. So I want to ask both of you these this question. Do you ever finish each other's sentence out of like a psychic sense?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't think so. I really don't.
SPEAKER_02No, we just finished each other's sandwiches. No, I love it. I think we usually click really, really quickly though, because you know, there was one day we were talking about in an outfit that we were getting ready. We were going to go to an Oktoberfest and we were picking out the clothes that we were wearing. And I pulled them up and I found a shirt for him, and I found a shirt for me. And I looked at him and he went, Yes. And so we decided to swap the costumes, but we didn't actually communicate that. But he knew, like within a second, when I looked at him and I said, But what if we and he was like, Yes, we will, we will. So I ended up wearing the shirt that we got for you know, the the suspenders, and he ended up wearing the shirt that looked like boobs and stuff like that, which was hilarious. But we do have those those moments looked like boobs.
SPEAKER_00So I think I think what so yeah, like what she's saying, but I think because we both talk so differently, like Stacy's very highly educated and has a very like educated way of sentencing, and I don't. Like, so I think we're very much on the same page and understanding what each other's saying, and we kind of know where the person's going before they get there. But I don't think we like actually add words to it because our wording is so different.
SPEAKER_02Like we sentence differently, and I like that you turned it into a verb.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's so sweet. But I'm listening to you talk and your words are very well put together also. I know Stacey is always eloquent and I could listen to her voice, but you've got one of those voices too, even if the patterns are a little bit different.
SPEAKER_00Well, thank you.
SPEAKER_01So don't count yourself out there.
SPEAKER_00I don't count myself out. I just know that like we have very different styles.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay, well, my next question is do you have any household rules for spirit activity now? Like no ghostly visitors before you have a cup of coffee. And I know Stacy just said something about your room being your sanctuary, no spirits in there.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Spirits don't visit me. They come to see you. No, rules for them.
SPEAKER_02I I don't think we have any like rules like that set in stone. I mean, they're not allowed in the bedroom. That I think is pretty much the the key piece. And it's it's interesting because like with readings and Reiki and everything else that I practice regularly, it's it's a normal part of conversation. You know, like it's like after a day at work when you come home and you're sharing your work day, I can look at Steve and be like, so I did a reading and this person came through and blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's just normal. It's so normalized that he's like, Oh, oh, well, that's interesting. Did they have anything interesting to say or did something happen and stuff like that? And it's just such a normal thing.
SPEAKER_01That makes sense. I know there was a time where talking or understanding talk like that wasn't a normal thing. And it just has had to evolve as being part of your relationship, much like my relationship with my husband, but he knew me many years before my awakening. And then all of a sudden I wake up the next morning, a flip has been switched. And I I know he thought several times because we've had this conversation that I was gonna outgrow him spiritually, that I was just on a different level. And I'm like, absolutely not, because I need you for everything you've always been. And to see him evolve too, where our conversations have now become more normal is really amazing.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think there's a level of growth that has to take place, right? So even though Steve stepped into my life when I like post-divorce, post-all that stuff, I I had been, you know, a psychic medium for 20 plus years. But there has to be some sort of growth within the relationship with that. It has like for me to have such a significant part of my life that I can't talk about is not healthy for me. And so I think that he kind of stepped into it going, this needs to be a it's a part of you, it's a part of who you are. So we can't just pretend it's non-existent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Would you agree with that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01A gift of self-care that he can give you also to be there as a support system. I love that. Last time we talked to you, Steve, you had had a dream in which you one of your best friends came to visit you. And I know that you recently said you had something in the room you didn't like, but other than that, have you had any visitation dreams?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I mean, they'll come back every now and then. I can't really, I don't really remember.
SPEAKER_01That's fairly typical of dreams after having them. Like you remember them for such a short time, even when they're impactful, and then the day takes them away. The act of being awake takes them away. I can't tell you how many times I know my guides are working with me. I'm having a visitation. I'm totally connected. And as soon as I open my eyes, it's gone. It's yeah, completely gone.
SPEAKER_02Completely gone. I I think that happens to me quite regularly too. It's it can be very frustrating.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I guess I can't really remember any specific dreams right now that I've had. I know I I know he's visited me. I just don't remember like why or what the details of it were.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's fair enough. But you know he's around, he's looking after you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01The next question I have is what's the biggest perk to being married to a psychic medium? And what are some of the unpredictable things that have happened?
SPEAKER_00I think the biggest surprise has happened when we were first started dating before we were married, you know, and she kind of blew my mind with knowing and saying things that I didn't think she would be able to find out on her own. I don't know. I feel like I feel like the first like before the first podcast I did with you guys was such a whirlwind of her like letting me into a world that sensed it's kind of been normal. And I don't really like look for anything or think anything different anymore. So I guess it would only stick out to me like it used to, because it just became so normalized in our lives.
SPEAKER_01Right. It's just a part of the day-to-day routine. It doesn't stick out, you know, like, oh, that was weird anymore, which I get. I understand that.
SPEAKER_00I think the only thing that like it's not like you see in the movies. I think that's the best way to say it. It's it's not like, you know, we we all grew up watching like TV shows like that's so raven, where like she zones out and has like this vision, and that's not really what happens, you know, for me anyway. It's more just like you get this gut instinct of like something really bad is gonna happen with this person and it's gonna be along the lines of this and that, and you and like it's kind of like you pick up on things they say, you know, or they're constantly doing, and you put it together, and you're like, Yeah, it's gonna end really bad, and then kind of or that's gonna go really good, and it kind of does. So I guess I never think of it as like a premonition or like anything like that, because it's kind of like life experience has taught me that this is gonna happen with this person. Like, I don't think much of it, and she usually brings it back up as in like you saw this coming, and I'm like, anybody can see it coming. She's like, no, not really.
SPEAKER_01You know, and with your intuition and the way that you address it or think of it is very much how I've always felt about my intuition. I always thought that other people just experience the world the same way as I did. And I didn't realize that what was happening wasn't happening for everyone. Could it happen for everyone? Yes. This is those is just who I am naturally, if that makes sense. And so when I step in and people are like, you're an empath, you're this, you're that, and I'm like, but it doesn't feel any different because I've always been those things. Now I just know the label that's been put on it. It doesn't live, it's not a limiting label, it's just like an aha label. Like, oh, that makes so much sense now.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Well, and and I will also share that, you know, Steve and I have gone to a few different like fairs and and you know, activities and stuff like that where I've gotten a reading and he has had the opportunity to sit in on the reading. And he looked at me after and he said, nothing came through. There was nothing there. I don't know what they were reading or what they were looking at, but there was nothing surrounding them. There was no energy. I I picked up absolutely nothing. And that observation was really interesting because he's never, I don't think you've ever actively seen me read, but he all he knows when I am. You know, he knows I I don't know if it's a shift or a feeling, but you know.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I feel like everybody has that, you know, you ever feel like you're being watched feeling like you just I feel like like I said, to me it's so normal to just feel like, oh, there's something in this room, you know. And so I used to work at a lot of assisted living homes and people, you know, the nursing staff and always, oh, these places are so haunted, and I'm like, nah, there's there's nothing here. Like, and I mean, I don't know if it's just the ones I worked at or if I don't know whatever was there wasn't coming through, but it never felt like a bad place. And like I always like feel when something wasn't right, and like I've never really experienced it fully, like in big crowded places. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. It probably does happen to some people, but places like fairs and stuff like that, I've never been able to pick up on things at places like that. I think it's the worst place for someone to set up and do readings because there's too much noise, there's too much commotion. You know, it's just it's too much going on that I'm not gonna go to a crowded place to whisper in someone's ear what I want them to tell somebody else. That's not what I would how I would do it.
SPEAKER_01So And I'm right there with you too, because you hit the nail on the head. I can tap in much easier when it's me alone in a space. A lot of times it helps if I have my eyes covered and I have music on. That's the easiest way. But when I get out into a crowd, when I get out into the noise, it's so hard to focus. It's so hard to step into that energy. It does happen, but it's just more of an intentional thing rather than a natural thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's hard to block everything out whenever you've got that much stuff happening. And I think, you know, the individuals that are practicing at fairs and places along those lines that are really crowded, I think it speaks to their ability to focus on one person at a time. And I know like it depends on what you're doing and how you're reading too, right? Are you a psychic? Are you a medium? If you're a medium, you're waiting for spirits to come through. If you're a psychic, you can use tools. You know, I know mediums can use tools as well, but you know, you're you're psychics that are reading cards or reading palms, you have that additional thing that you can look at.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01So when Chris and I were just in Seattle, which we talked about in last week's episode, we ran into a medium, a psychic medium who used astrology and cards. And we asked if we could sit together during the reading just to hear what was being said. And she said, no, I would prefer you not to, just because I read energy. And if your energy is so close to hers, I don't know who I'm reading. And I'm like, very good. And so I would be worried that would be a problem for me, an affair. Like I wouldn't know whose energy I was picking up on.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And like I said, I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm pretty sure people can do it. Just it was that one experience where it was kind of like, this doesn't I think it didn't feel like there was really anything there. Like I couldn't even feel the energy of the person reading. Right. Like, and we were all in the same room. It was like there was like nothing coming off of them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So it was just, I'm not saying they're not talented. They might have very special gifts. It just felt like that wasn't the place for them to be doing what they were doing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I think actually we talked about it in an episode afterwards because I think that was that was kind of the the takeaway, is sometimes you have to know your limits and you have to be prepared to not read in certain locations.
SPEAKER_00But I think it's like they're obviously, you know, they're they're doing their, they're using it yet, they're trying to, you know, get their name out there, which is perfect. I'm just not sure if that's like maybe the place they do the readings, you know, like kind of has set up and obviously like trying to get your business out there, or maybe like have like come back at this time reading, don't just bring them right back in, you know. I don't really know how it works, but it just like I said, that one situation, it just felt very fast and not real.
SPEAKER_02Not genuine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, not genuine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I think in that question, you actually answer the next one, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. Does Stacy have any tells when she's going into like a psychic I don't want to say trance, but state, or she's getting hit as a medium? Like, can you look at her face and be like, oh, there's somebody in the room or anything? Anything like that?
SPEAKER_00I usually don't know when something's going on until after and she can tell me about it after. And it usually like I don't know how she does it really, but it kind of feels like it only happens when she's ready for it to. I'm sure she picks up on things when we're out and about, but if she doesn't want to, you know, do whatever she does, I think she just doesn't do it. So I don't think think things like sneak up on her. But I don't know. I should probably ask about that more often, actually.
SPEAKER_01Do you hide things easily, Stacy?
SPEAKER_02Like if there's someone sitting in the room not to freak anyone out, your husband, the animals, do you say anything or I I would say if if if it's something that that I'm working through and we're in the middle of something, I might say I just need a moment or you know, pause for a second. But I usually have pretty good guards up when we're out and about because I don't want to take away from, you know, our time, our time with our families, our time with our friends. So, you know, I have I've actually done a clearing in the middle of a bar once for a friend of ours, but it doesn't usually come up very often. So I I don't know if I have any tells. I might close my eyes for a moment and kind of pay attention to something or just watch something down the hall for a minute. But it's usually not anything like, oh, hold on, Stacy's having a moment. It's usually just like in passing, like, oh, that happened. Okay, moving on with my day. But again, that's I think that's a piece of we've so it's so normalized in our house that I don't need to take space. I don't need to step away because I know no matter where we are, he's he's just gonna be like, oh, okay, like that's fine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Doing what you're doing. I know that sometimes it still takes me by surprise. Like we're staying in an Airbnb right now, and my daughter-in-law was visiting and up and behind her, I'm like, oh, there's something there. But I can't stop myself. It's like it still surprises me. So I'm like, oh, there's something there. So I didn't know if it was still the same for you. Or had it ever been like that. Not really.
SPEAKER_02I don't think it I don't think I ever really drew a lot of attention to it unless I was like in a group with people that were also trying to read to. Like I've done ghost hunts, I've done that kind of thing where you're trying to see if experiences are matching or similar. But outside of that, I've always been alone until until I met, you know, basically you and Carissa, because that's that's when I started talking about it openly was through everything that we went through.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's a wonderful gift in my life too, to have both of you to talk about things with because a lot of people don't get it and you don't like that blank look on people's face. Like, what in the hell are you talking about?
SPEAKER_02But prior to that, it was always I just kept it to myself. So I don't think that's changed too, too, too much.
SPEAKER_01Okay. And then we kind of Hit on this one. Does the energy shift when you go out on dates? Like certain places feel more charged or peaceful than others? I think yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would definitely say that's I think it also goes like based on how we feel too. Like I think if we walk into a place and like you're kind of like, okay, I'm happy to be here if you walk in a place and you're kind of like, there's something off here. I think like if you like it goes up your energy too, right?
SPEAKER_01Like I think how you're feeling.
SPEAKER_00And it it's like uh if you see someone having a conversation, you kind of wait your turn to have a conversation with them, you don't just interrupt. I feel like it's kind of the same way. Like, you know, you don't just walk in and everything attacks you, you kind of feel it out first. But there are definitely like places where there are people I'm not a big fan of, and in those places it instantly feels just gross to be in that setting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't say draining. Draining. It feels very draining. It feels like, you know, you just your head is spinning. And I definitely think in those places it's more apt to see and hear, feel things that other people aren't. But yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so you definitely have to protect your energy because you're an empath also. You can go into a room and read the energy of the room. If people are happy, if people are sad, if their intentions are good, if they're bad. And that is a part of the whole thing. And, you know, becoming an aware empath allows you to protect your energy better, which I'm sure Stacey's talked to you a lot of a lot about too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, definitely. I mean, I was pretty much her thing was, you know, just protect your energy. You know, if something's pulling it from you, pull it back. Don't let it take it. It was pretty much our biggest advice, you know.
SPEAKER_02So And that also comes in whenever you have, you know, clearings and stuff where you can actually tell somebody to leave.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. You you have the power still. And I think for me, one of the most impactful things Stacy has taught me is when you go into a clearing or you have an energy present, remember that you have the physical body, that you have it's your body, your space in this time and place. And with that, it gives you back the control. Or that's what I've found. Like whenever I get scared, I just remember I have the physical body. This is my space right now. Leave. And it comes from a more powerful place and just please leave, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It well, it gives you your power. Like you step into this space of like I I can actually have my space and own my space. You know, I I think the remind remembering that has been some of the only reasons I've been able to successfully do some clearings that I stepped into.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because some people run from those clearings, but nope, you step forward. So that's pretty amazing. Well, the last question I have here, because I honestly can't remember the answer, did Stacy know you were the one first, or did you know Stacy was the one first?
SPEAKER_00Ooh. Uh I guess the best answer I can answer this is we live in a very like superficial world where everything is about, you know, the shiniest, the brightest, like the best looking things. And what happened when I met Stacy was not just this physical attraction, but there was this ultimate like switching gravity of I just need this person in my life. I need to talk to them. I need, I just I want to be around them as much as possible. And there were a lot of signs kind of pointing me towards her outside of just her and I. One of them was my friend had already passed away, and I had a lot of people not wanting me to be with her because of certain personal life things that were happening. And I went to a location where I usually hung out with him. And actually, before I even got there, I was on my motorcycle on my way there. And in my head, I was like, all right, if you're gonna go see him, what was a conversation you'd have? And I was kind of like having it in my head, and clear as day, his voice said, Kid, I don't give a shit what you do, but you kick, but if you break up with her for other people's feelings, I'm kicking you in the dick. It was just kind of like the last push I needed to realize that this person was not just a person to me. It was everything. And I I fell in love. And I'm that was kind of the part too with the whole psychic medium thing. Was I was telling her I was very skeptical and we were having a conversation. And as I said earlier, Stacey's very educated, and her sentence structure is very kind of the same all the time, you know. Um, and when I was talking to her about it, and I was like, Well, could you reach him? And she she was like, Oh yeah, he's been wanting to come through since I met you. And when she started talking, her sentence structure changed to his. It was way more swearing, it was I don't even know how to explain it. Like it didn't feel like Stacy was the one talking. It felt like he was talking through her, and it was crazy because I'd never heard her talk like that before, and she had never met him. So I think all of that was kind of just like this is the person for you, you know, and she is gonna be everything. So put all your chips in.
SPEAKER_01That's amazing. And I know Stacy had gone to a psychic medium before meeting you, and they had drawn a very similar sketch of who you are.
SPEAKER_00And again, I love that picture, but it's kind of creepy. I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is kind of creepy.
SPEAKER_00I'm just doing so my friends, and they're like, that's you. I'm like, I'm out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's so crazy. Steve, I could listen to you talk forever about Stacy and how in that moment when she brought your friend through, she channeled, everything changed her about her demeanor, the way she spoke. I've only experienced that once before, so I know what you're talking about, and I know how powerful it is, and how that message just hits at such a deep level. Like, no, this is a person I love, but the person they are right now, it's coming from somewhere. There's no doubt. Something. Yeah. Well, I just want to congratulate you because in just a week or so, Halloween, you are gonna be celebrating your one-year anniversary. So, congratulations. I know we love having you as a part of our three cups and a dash of spirituality family, and I know how much you mean to Stacy. So thank you so much for being here today.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. Appreciate it.
SPEAKER_01Well, with that, anything else you want to add, Stacy, or should we wrap this episode up? Let's wrap it up. Okay, I'll let you start. Take us out. Stay classy.
