Hello everyone, & welcome to our podcast Whispers from the Mist: Conversations from the Spiritual Byway!
What does it really mean to “know” something before it happens? In this thought-provoking episode Michelle and Stacy wander through humanity’s long-standing fascination with prophecy, prediction, and the mysterious pull of the unknown. From eerie moments in pop culture that seem to mirror future events, to the cryptic writings of figures like Nostradamus and Rasputin, they explore the blurred line between coincidence, intuition, and something more profound. Along the way, the conversation softens into something deeply personal, inviting listeners to reflect on their own experiences of inner knowing, gut feelings, and the quiet whispers that guide us. As the first installment in a three-part arc on time and transformation, this episode opens a doorway into curiosity, wonder, and the possibility that the future may not just be something that happens to us, but something we are already, in subtle ways, a part of.

Hey everyone, on this week's episode of Whispers from the Mist, Conversations from the Spiritual Byway, we are going to explore humanity's fascination with prophecy and prediction. From cultural moments that seem to anticipate the future to the mystery surrounding historical figures known for their visions. We're going to reflect on why the unknown can feel both intriguing and unsettling. This episode begins the first part of a three-episode arc exploring time, transition, and the subtle ways that change begins to make itself known. So let's change this up and start the music.
SPEAKER_01Conversations from the spiritual byway. Look at you.
SPEAKER_00Yes. How are you, Michelle? I'm doing well. I am loving the energy around me. It's moving. It's fast. I had a wonderful reading the other day. So I'm doing really well.
SPEAKER_01That is wonderful. I am finally seeing some of my yard after all of the snow. So things are melting here. Um it is a it is a rainy day, though. It is, it is kind of one of those you just want to stay in bed all day kind of days today.
SPEAKER_00You know, I like a rainy day, or maybe just a really dramatic cloud day.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I love like thunderstorms are my favorite. I will say that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01I do like a good, but this is just gross rain and it's cold and raw.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't like the cold part. I like it when it rains and it's warm. Yes. Or the clouds look beautiful. So I know I'm probably in the minority because sunshine is so healing and energizing, but okay, what can I say? No, I I think everybody needs a nice cloudy day sometimes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Maybe I'm just a moody bitch. I don't know. What are we talking about today, Stacey? Oh, prophecies and predictions, if memory serves me correctly. A little bit of pop culture, you know, maybe thrown out there here and there. And I think you've done some research on this one.
SPEAKER_00I have done some research because I find it fascinating. I find these algorithms that find me on social media to just speak to me. And it's like, pay attention to this, pay attention to this. And I'll tell you, I'm not searching for it. It finds me. It's not like I'm like, oh, tell me examples of prophecy and pop culture or anything. They just start showing up. So I'm like, oh, it must mean I need to do an episode on this.
SPEAKER_01That's hysterical because my algorithms are like really goofy videos. And one of my favorite recently is this guy that does, it's called like roll for sandwich. And he rolls to make a sandwich every day for his lunch. And it's whatever he rolls, he puts on it. And for some reason I'm obsessed with it. And it has nothing to do with spirituality.
SPEAKER_00Nothing at all. Do you want to know the weirdest thing on my algorithm? And I'm almost embarrassed to even say it's on there. And I will tell you, I don't know how it went on there, but I'm not gonna do an episode about this. It's so gross. It's like the body and the things that excrete like ear wax pulling it out of the ear. It's so like well like that.
SPEAKER_01They made the show Dr. Pimplepopper for a reason. I mean, I there are some people that really like to watch those things. I don't understand it myself. I'm good. I'm good. I don't need that, but you know, that it's a thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, in this moment, maybe that's how it got into my algorithm because I reached recently had a surgery to have something removed on my back, and someone's like, oh, that sounds like what Dr. Pimplepopper does. And they just said it to me in conversation. I don't think I'd looked it up, but phone's always listening. They are.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna jump right in because we're talking about videos and stuff like that. Because I one of the coolest things talking about predictions and prophecies is there is a certain cartoon. And I'm actually not going to name it just out of like for copyright reasons or just to make sure that we are covered, but it is a certain cartoon with about a family that has been airing for over 30 years. And if you look back at early episodes, some of the things that happened in that cartoon have actually taken place.
SPEAKER_00It's amazing how many things that they got correct. Years later. It blows my mind.
SPEAKER_01Yes, years later. And I think it most listeners are going to know which cartoon I'm referencing, but when we start talking about predictions or prophecies, it almost makes you wonder if there was like some sort of psychic medium or intuitive that was helping write this particular cartoon because of the accuracy.
SPEAKER_00Like one of the big things that jumps out just because we are in the world we are today is back in 2000. It's an episode that aired in 2000, Donald Trump was president. That didn't even happen for 16 years.
SPEAKER_01Right. It's it's baffling uh to look back at some of those big things that happened in that show. And I'm sure you have a few other examples because none of them are coming to the forefront of my mind, but I have read a few articles about it. And it's like, how how were they able to accurately predict XYZ? How did they know it was supposed to, you know, a lot of people will say, well, it was supposed to be a joke, but wasn't. Was it a joke?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. It it blows my mind. I'm gonna give three examples. One I already gave, in which Trump is now president that was predicted in the year 2000. Another huge thing was Siegfried and Roy. They did a parody on Siegfried and Roy, where one of the tigers attacked Roy or attacked both of them. I don't know, I don't watch the series, but many years later, we all know that it played out that Roy did get attacked by the tiger. Also, smartwatches, they introduced the idea of smartwatches in 1995. And it wasn't until 2015 that Apple came out with their first smartwatch. And then the other one I'm gonna share, and then I'm gonna shift it just a little, is they actually predicted COVID-19 back in 1993. So 27 years before it happened. And in the episode, a worker, a foreign worker, coughed into a box and then sent that box to the city. Oh, that's interesting. Yes, I find that so fascinating because those are actually just things in time that are so incredibly random. However, a couple of the predictions, you know, maybe that did play into it because there is an episode of the show that came out in 1990, not 1993, I'm sorry, that came out in 2012. And it had to do with Lady Gaga and her being lifted above the crowd at the Super Bowl show.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00Fast forward to 2017, she did the Super Bowl show and that happened. So maybe that was a throwback to the show, or you can't I I don't know if you can really count that as a prediction.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't I honestly I don't know if you if you would be able to, because it could just be somebody saw it and it got stuck in their head. And then when it came time to talk about the Super Bowl show, they were like, Oh, I saw this in a show many years ago. This is a good idea. Yeah, it's life imitating art.
SPEAKER_00And let's just do it. Like, let's make that happen.
SPEAKER_01So let me let me ask a question. What do you think the difference is between predictions and prophecies?
SPEAKER_00I feel like prophecies are maybe something that come through dreams or some other spiritual means, that there is more of a spiritual connection to prophecies. And I'm glad you brought it up because I have some interesting information or facts about Notre Damas, who his prophecies still interpret the world today, or we can assign meaning to his prophecies with events happening today.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Whereas predictions, that was the other word you said.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00I I think it's just maybe like they were having fun with the show. And I know we're gonna get into a larger description of all these things and how maybe they come to be uh later in the show, but you know, people are watching, they're always watching, they're interpreting, they're visionaries. And so I think you can get there just like that too. What do you think?
SPEAKER_01I I feel I'm kind of in agreement with a lot of the things that you said. I feel like prophecies do have this air of more spiritual or more sometimes scary, sometimes overarching. Sometimes they have this ominous feel to them. Whereas when we talk about predictions, I know when I'm doing readings, oftentimes I'll look at, you know, future cards and and offer predictions based on the path that my readers or my sitters are on in the moment. So I wouldn't say that I'm necessarily prophesizing as much as I am making a potential prediction for the future.
SPEAKER_00You're using your intuition. Right. That's maybe one of the big differentiators, is it is intuition based. Because I know in our lives, every day things happen and we don't know how we get that information, but we kind of know it's gonna happen. I will give an example of this one time I had gone into a restaurant and there was a young lady who worked there. I didn't know her very well. I mean, I knew her, but we weren't best of friends. We wouldn't have conversations. I didn't even know how she had a boyfriend, but I looked at her and in my third eye, I saw her very pregnant. And then I looked at her in my with my real eyes, and there was not a single sign that she was. But time played this out, and she actually was pregnant. So that is one time I just had a hit of intuition. Right. It wasn't it was kind of addictive. Yeah. I'm kind of like, and I was curious, it was kind of one of those things like, well, that was weird. I wonder if that's true. And then time played out it, it is true, but I don't know. That's really cool. Yeah. Yeah, it was really cool. I do have more examples in pop culture. If you want to go through those before I jump into Nostradamus and the Brass Butin, pop culture again, can be very predictive. And again, I think it's that forward thinking that really plays into it. There was an episode of Supernatural that aired in the year 2009, where they had a pandemic storyline that closely mimicked what happened in 2020. There was an episode of 30 Rock that aired in 2012, in which Weinstein reference was made to him and behaviors. That proved to be true in 2017. And friends, Ross wanted to connect with all his college friends back in 2013 and thought we should get this page together, which we all know in 2014 pay uh Facebook launched. So again, like where are they getting their information? Do they see this trend coming? Have they had these experiences? Have they been paying attention culturally?
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, which came first the chicken or the egg? Like that that's that's that's the question. Yeah. That's interesting.
SPEAKER_00But going back to Not Shredamus, who was born in the 16th century, he was actually a French physician, a seer. He was into astrology. He wouldn't know what would be happening in our century right now in current times, yet many of his predictions are assigned value to certain events in history. He was actually, as I said, French. He was a consort or he worked very closely with Catherine de Medici, who was married to one of the kings of France. And his job for her was sharing horoscopes about her children. So he did have some pool with that royal family of France. In 1555, he published a book called Les Profites. Now, I don't speak French well, so it's Les L-E-S-P-R-O-P-H-E-T-E-S. And in that he had 942 four-lined poems. Interesting. Yes. Now the interesting about these poems are that they're very vague predictions, there are no dates associated with them, and they often have reoccurring themes of things such as a plague, droughts, social upheaval, or war. Okay. So people have taken this information that he listed back in 1555 and assigned it meaning as we progress to where we are today. Some of the things he is given credit for prophesizing correctly is 9-11. Wow. The rise of Hitler, the French Revolution, Princess Diana's death, the bombing of Japan, and so much more. One of the things that I'm so happy he wasn't correct about, but there was quite a hype or hysteria about it, is that the world would end in 1999.
SPEAKER_01I remember that that kind of fear and thought because we everyone was so fearful of Y2K. So 1999 to 2000, because we didn't think that it was a both a a fear of the world ending and computers essentially crashing as well. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00That like the world being completely impacted. And I remember I went and bought a truck January or sorry, December 31st, 1999. I'm like, well, we'll see if we're still here tomorrow and how everything clicks over. But thank God it all worked. Went smoothly for us. Yeah. Yeah. But I I just found that very interesting that so many of the things he wrote can be assigned a place in time and history. Again, the vagueness of it all. Oh, that sounds familiar. Right. Um, was it actual prediction with no dates? What do you think?
SPEAKER_01I mean, it because it's so I would need to actually look at them to see how generalized they are. I feel like number one. Because one of the things that you said is they were very general statements. So four-lined poems that are generalizing, you know, these major occurrences, was that intentional? Was the vagueness intentional because the prediction was made and we knew it was going to happen, but we didn't want to influence the future either. So it's the whole idea of that, you know, the butterfly effect theory is if I give you your the time of your death, for example, are you going to live or are you going to stop living? Are you going to try to change the day or are you going to impact? Like what do we do? If we go, if we go back in time or if we go forward in time and we know something's going to happen, are we going to try to change the future? And if we do that, what impact does it have? Does that am I making sense? I feel like I'm just rambling.
SPEAKER_00No, it makes a lot of sense. And as you're saying there, talking about that, I'm thinking about an alternative theory that I've never thought about. I'm going to share it here and then I'll explain why I'm sharing it here. He predicted the end of the world in 1999. Maybe it really did end, but we did a time jump. Right. All of us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, that's that's also that that is a theory that I've heard before too, is, you know, multiple predictions have actually happened, but we've just jumped onto a different timeline. So we don't know that there was ever a break. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00We'll never know. But interesting theory. So we had him back in the 16th century, and then we had Jagori Rasputin. He was born in 1869 and lived until 1916. He was born Siberian peasant, but quickly rose to favor with the, I can't say Tarzina Alexandra of the Romanov family, because all of us have probably heard the story of Anastasia. That was her mother and her mother's seer, her healer, her mystic that was in court with her. He did make some predictions, but they were more in the immediate moment. Like the predictions he made were uh World War I was coming, he predicted his own death, and he predicted once he died, their family would fall, which we all know now to be true in a very short fashion. So he wasn't predicting outward or beyond the immediate, but some would say he predicted all of those things that happened. Not some would say he did. He predicted those things were gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01It it is interesting too when you look back and and you're able to see, you know, the accuracy amongst the predictions too. The Mayan calendars is another one. I I don't have any of the predictions off the top of my head, but I know that there was some accuracy with that. And I think that goes into Y2K if memory serves, because the Mayan calendars actually ended at that point in time too.
SPEAKER_00And I love that you're mentioning the Mayan calendar right now, because I haven't heard about it in probably a long time in like just general conversation. It hasn't popped up in social media. But I was taking a quiz today, this morning, like right before we recorded, and it was one of the answers. Oh, interesting. This is how the world talks to me. It's like I'm gonna give you some random thing and you're gonna feel like it's random. Remember it, and then it just comes up later. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it just pops up kind of out of the blue. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, there's different forms of knowing, as we all know. So I think we kind of hit on this earlier, but we have the symbolic prophecy, which is usually like visionary or dreamlike. They're messages about future events or something that's going to happen spiritually. We also have touched on intuition and the fact that that's just your rapid subconscious making some sense in a moment with your brain. And it's usually shaped by past experiences and your own emotional awareness. But have we talked about myth and the myth behind things and how that all factors in? No. No. Well, myths are metaphorical narratives expressing a larger human or spiritual meaning. And so I've been sitting with that, and you know, it's the myth of Rasputin. Like they say this is how he was. Was the truth really that? Or have we just made it something larger in our world? Same about Notre Damas. Was there just a hint of truth that we have somehow made larger legend myth?
SPEAKER_01Right. And and that kind of touches up on what I was saying a little earlier of are we melding these predictions into fitting the future or or or things that have happened, or are we looking at them as, oh no, that's that's 100% accurate. That's what happened. Does that make sense? It does.
SPEAKER_00And, you know, sometimes, and I think you hit on this earlier too, prophecies can be scary. People have put out things like the end of the world in 1999. I remember not too long ago, I was brought watching a video and it said that Hawaii was gonna be hit by a horrible tsunami in December of whatever year. And I'm like, I'm gonna be there then. So then it's that question Do I trust this ticket? Do I trust this? Do I just live life? And it's the idea of that prophecy taking that joy of the moment away. Right. Because if I gave in to the fear, I'm missing out on an experience. Right. So we're here to have these experiences and to live life.
SPEAKER_01And at the same time, if you if you choose to change your your plans based around potential predictions or just general predictions, are you then losing an experience that you were supposed to have? Right.
SPEAKER_00Now that reminds me of, you know, I have a lot of fears in life. Or before I opened up spiritually, I had many more of them. So much so that if I listened to every fear in my mind, everything that came forward, I would never leave the house, nor would anybody I love. I would be stuck in this house all the time. And when you're talking about the house, Talking about prophecies and what what we were just talking about, that would just I don't want to live my life that way.
SPEAKER_01No. No, and and could you imagine not having gone yeah, could you imagine not having gone to Hawaii?
SPEAKER_00That would be yeah, really have been stupid and I would have got a lot of grief for that, especially if I'm like, I just have a feeling. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, it is interesting. There are those feelings. I mean, that's somebody else's prophecy, that's someone putting that out into the universe. I have had personal gut feelings about flights I'm gonna go on or places I'm supposed to travel in which I just don't feel good about it, and I've changed a flight for that reason.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, look at how internal voice. Look at how many people had things shift for 9-11 that they were supposed to be there and something changed last minute and and they weren't there, or you know, just random things that occurred. There were people that were supposed to be on the flights, for example, their flights got shifted last minute. It's is this was it a knowing? Did you have a bad gut feeling, or was it the universe kind of stepping in to that's fascinating.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna write down the 9-11 question. And I'm sure there's books or research out there we can do definitely. There's there's a lot of stuff out there. That is a really good point that you're you're making up. Like, why did you change your reservation? Did did the or do you think it was the universe stepping in or was it your own gut feeling? I'm gonna do some research on that. I think we both should. Well, thinking again about prophecies or premonitions, where do you think they came from? Because I think there's a variety of sources that can put these out into the universe.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I I think it it all comes from this idea of cross-contamination of timelines. I think I think there's this kind of general all-knowing that we access at times, if that makes sense. Like we don't know everything and we can't predict everything, but we can have these moments of seeing into our own futures and jumping timelines into the future and and and what things look like. I read a story once about a woman who was dating somebody and saw a picture of him with a three-year-old little boy. And a couple weeks after she saw the picture, she asked him about it, and he was like, I don't have any, like, there's no picture of me with a three-year-old little boy. Fast forward, the two of them are married, and that picture is now framed on their wall because it was their child that she was seeing. So little jumps.
SPEAKER_02Fascinating.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm so fascinated by all of this. I did have that as one of the things that I wrote down. There are many nonlinear theories, such as jumping timelines, and those come just from philosophical or scientific curious curiosity about how we perceive time. I'm thinking time travelers too. There could be instances of that. We don't know. On my notes or in my notes, I also wrote, we have a collective or shared consciousness that we are sensing when things are changing socially or emotionally. I mean, that is going on right now very hardcore, right? Very much so in the world we're living in. There could be spiritual, psychic or religious connections, which we talked about. And I think one that we shouldn't overlook are visionary innovations or their imagination projecting current trends or into the future. I'm thinking of Leonardo da Vinci right now, who in his book of drawings, there was a helicopter. Like he had that mind that wanted to look into the future to see what was possible. And in his mind, that's what he envisioned. So I think that's just really cool is just having that ability to look forward, or even like intuition is observing the patterns around us and watching and paying attention. And like you said in a reading, if you keep going this way, this is what the outcome is gonna be. We can do that in all areas of our lives. Following the patterns, yeah. I love this episode. I loved it for many reasons. One of it, or one of the reasons is that this is gonna be a three-episode arc time travel and reincarnation, and it's just gonna come together in a flow that makes sense. I'm so excited about the time travel one. Again, it's presenting itself in all areas of my life. I can't ignore it anymore. So we're gonna talk about that.
SPEAKER_01Love it.
SPEAKER_00You know how difficult it is to understand time, right?
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's it's time is not a linear thing like we all think it is. It definitely isn't. And I think it's important important for everyone to remember as we close out this episode too, that the future is both imagined and unfolding simultaneously, if I can say that word simultaneously. There we go. Yeah. So always remember that. We're very lucky. We live in a time where we see things coming true and we have the backbone to that, I guess, or the history to that.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, I love it.
SPEAKER_00Well, is there anything else you'd like to say, or should I just ask my three questions for this week? I am waiting for your three questions. I'm curious as to what they are this week. Here's question number one. Have you ever experienced a moment that felt like foresight or inner knowing? Question number two Do you feel the future is sensed through intuition or is it shaped through observation? I have so much I could say about that. And number three, what stories have influenced how you imagine what lies ahead?
SPEAKER_01I love those questions. I hope our writers, you know, respond to them because I want to our listeners respond to them because I want to hear these answers. I want to hear the answers too.
SPEAKER_00I think we could do a whole episode on different predictive things that have happened to our listeners. Absolutely. I love it. Okay, well, with that, Stacey, I think you know what to do.
SPEAKER_01Stay curious.
