Hello. Hey everyone. How are you? All right. We are going to talk about Michelle and I went to New Orleans and did a lot of spooky, paranormal, fun things. Are y'all ready to talk about it? Let's dive in. I'm excited. I'm excited.

Before we jump into it, last time we recorded, we had made a couple comments about hauntings and things like that. And while I was in New Orleans, I stumbled across two things that were related back to that episode. The first one being is walking every single street in New Orleans. I swear I got 20,000 steps a day, but I did not see one for sales sign that said this house is haunted. It's like not a thing anymore.

Okay. Oh, was there one? But then the guide said it was haunted. I thought you said you pointed one out. Maybe you said you pointed out that there aren't any that said okay. Okay.

I was pointing out that there aren't any because years ago it was a thing. And this time, not a thing. And that blows my mind. I wonder if they've started governing that differently.

They might be because how do you prove it's it's haunted? You know, what does that mean? And if you're if you're selling a haunted house, what what what is that?

I know there's got to be some legal reason there why they wouldn't be claiming that anymore. Because if it wasn't, could you sue the past owners for like false advertisement?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Oh, that's interesting.

Yeah, I found that very interesting. And then in the last episode, we were also talking about Felix the skeleton, and we talked about can you have real skeletons? Uh yes, you can have real skeleton heads because we did go to one location. There were three skulls there, and they were real. I'm good with that. Thanks. I'll take Felix and his plasticness. I like plasticness too. I was like, what? And I I really kind of wanted to turn around and exit. But I'm like, no, Michelle, like it's a thing. But someone's thing.

I guess to be fair, like you can donate your body to science. And if you're donating your body to science, it does include your skeleton, right? So they could do all of the things that they need to do scientifically and then just like take your bones. Yeah. So we can now transition to the New Orleans trip.

Okay. So we chose New Orleans. If you listened to the other episode, it was called to us from our last visit to Galveston. And we decided to stay in the let me let me make sure I get this correct, Le Pavillon Hotel. Did I get that right? No, you said it much better than I could.

So we have some experiences there. We did get moving on camera. Awesome. Yay. That we didn't notice till after. Yep. And we had some, we got a really cool tea reading that we're gonna go into and talk about, which I've never done. It's super cool. And we'll give all their information below so y'all can call them and get an appointment. And then Sam at the hands of fate. I don't know where to start.

I do have a place to start because this trip has been it, or this trip was so much fun, but it was so much different than any trip we've taken before. Before we've gone to a haunted hotel and stayed in a haunted room, this time we went to a hotel and we just stayed in our assigned rooms, which weren't close together. Mine was on the third floor. Carissa's was on the ninth floor, but those are the only two floors listed to be haunted. So I thought that was interesting. But the other interesting part is before we'd done our own investigations. We've at night sat in the room, got out all our equipment, done our own event investigations. But on this trip, I could have left 40 pounds of luggage at home, which is all my equipment, because we only used it once or twice. Like we didn't even use our equipment this time. Wow. For an experience. And we we went without expectations and found a lot of great experiences, but they weren't with our own equipment.

Interesting. Do you think if you if you as you move forward and do a lot of these trips, like you like to do the paranormal, you know, experiences, do you think you'll continue to bring your equipment just in case? Or do you think you you might leave it home once or twice?

SPEAKER_01 5:09

I think it's really gonna depend on the location. Like New Orleans is known to be not just a haunted hotel, but a haunted city. And there were ghost tours, vampire tours. What other ones, Carissa? Like just so many things you could do that it wasn't necessary to bring all the equipment. But other places, like if you were to go to the Sally House, you're there for a specific reason, staying in a specific location that's known to be haunted. Gotcha. Okay, that made that makes sense. Anyhow, before going to New Orleans, Chris and I did spend some time planning. We did a couple readings. We threw in a couple of readings while we were there, unexpected. They synchronized well. What is it called? Serendipitous. Like we were just there, the timing was perfect. We chose a couple of places to eat and then waited till we were drawn to other places. So it was really kind of an intuitive trip where we were pooled, but we did have definite adventures already scheduled out. One of the intuitive adventures that we went on, it was a grave tour. We went to the St. Louis number one cemetery. It was $25. I learned so much, but I did find it really interesting. We went to enter this cemetery thinking that's where we purchased the tour. They're like, no, you have to go to that building over there. And as we were walking, there were people like trying to climb the fence or the gate to look over to get pictures or maybe go in. I'm like, pay the $25, you know, and then get that education.

It's a concrete wall.

Yeah. Wow. So they're trying to jump a concrete wall. Either jump it or look up enough to like videotape it so they didn't have to pay the $25. But I get that, but I guess I was like, just go in because you're going to get the history too. Because I think in the last episode, we even talked about why you feel cemeteries aren't haunted is because people, you know, don't aren't making memories there.

In the cemetery. I mean, there there are exceptions to the rule. And I think, you know, one of the things that we've previously talked about is a lot of the haunted houses that we end up visiting maintain their hauntedness because we believe that they're haunted. So you kind of open that door to bringing in more. So some cemeteries do have historical kind of like this place is creepy. I guarantee there are spirits here. And you kind of open that that door to to that too. Is that does that make sense?

It was really cool or interesting, however you want to phrase it. Crows circled the top of the the cemetery the whole time.

Oh wow. That that's kind of that's pretty neat.

And the history of everything, like, I didn't know how they like did this there, but in New Orleans, because you know it is below sea level at some points, they bury the deceased above ground. And it's quite a process. I thought they just moved bodies into these little crypts that they had, but he explained the whole process. And last night I was telling my husband, he's like, you know, I could have lived my whole life without knowing that, but thank you for sharing it. But it's most of them have like place for two bodies. And when somebody passes, they they put the body in, then they have to seal it for two years. It can't be open for two years, and then it's that natural order of decomposition. And then when the next person passes after two years, they'll open it back up, pull the oldest casket out, take out all the remains, put them in a burlap sack, and then put them in the bottom of the crypt, and then they can put the next body in, but they all have to be new coffins. And I wouldn't have known that. And it's probably more than our listeners want to know right now. And so one other piece of information I thought was cool is the cemetery has 650 places to bury people. I think that's what he said. And in that cemetery, there are 30,000 people remains at rest there, which I thought was interesting. I didn't know how they did it, so I thought it was really an interesting tour. Yeah, it it sounds like it was. It's wild. Yeah. What tour do you want to go to next, Chris?

I had so much fun on the paranormal investigation tour. What is it called? The Paranormal Society, and again, we'll leave all that information below.

Yeah, it was with the New Orleans Paranormal Society and our guide, his name was Robert, and he met us at a hotel, which will be in the notes. Also, I have it written down here, and we got to explore with him two haunted sites. One was a hotel, and then one was the hands of fate.

Because so many people were in the group, and instead of just like two to three doing the paranormal investigation, I felt like there was so much energy in these spaces. How cool. That I couldn't even really focus on stuff. I mean, you need the cat balls, we go off and we're like, oh, or then we'd listen and we'd we'd hear through the voices come through on the spirit box. But the things that moved, the like the orbs that came in, we didn't see until after we watched the video.

Yeah, I did catch a few things out of the corner of my eye, and I'm like, hey, I just saw. And then I'm like, no, you didn't. But Carissa, I happened to have her camera on and she did catch it. So why do you think that is?

Oh, why you think we I missed it or we missed it?

Well, why do you think that you weren't able to see it until after? Like, you know, Michelle was saying that you had, you know, your camera on you. Do you think that it was kind of it's it's almost by design for you to go back and actually relive the experience a second time?

SPEAKER_02 10:49

Possibly, however, I just felt from my experience so much energy, and you feel like your eyes need to go everywhere. Versus, you know, when your dog looks at something and starts barking and you're you're zeroed into that space. It was like your my mind just kept going everywhere. Like, okay, well, wait, we'll wait, we'll here, we'll there, instead of one area. Yeah.

Right. It was a little bit chaotic with everything going on. Again, lots of people, lots of different forms of equipment. They showed us how to use the spirit box, which was pretty similar to how we were using it. They had cat balls out there, they had this thing with a metal antenna that would go off of anything got close to it. So a lot that equipment I'd never seen. And interestingly, I had just ordered a piece of equipment that I had hoped would make it in time to take to New Orleans, but it didn't. But he had that equipment there, and it's super cool. Which one was that? That was the one that had like the tablet on top would show if there was like people, it would make it like the motions of a person. Yeah, it was really cool.

Yeah, I brought my thermal camera and I didn't get to use it, and I should have brought it. Something happened in the hotel. So in the middle of the night, two nights while we were there, the lights were off and the bathroom light would flicker intermittently.

It wasn't on and on position, it was turned off.

And we sat down to connect, see who was there. We had the dousing rods which was coming through, and then the cat ball. It was just stuff that was going on in our mind's eye. And it was a little boy, he was there to play, and then the mom came in and like put his hand, put her hand on his chest and pulled him back. So I was like, you know, we're just gonna give him some space, you know. Anyway, we found out that that hotel has a tunnel connecting to the port where they sent enslaved people back and forth. I guess so people couldn't see. And so if you can imagine a mom saying, Please don't take my boy. Oh my god, so when we got teary eyed. We got teary eyed when we was, yeah.

But so again, part of that lesson too is we know when to back off. Like there was that protective energy. For a moment, I was holding one of the dousing rods, and it felt like it was gonna like fly out of my hand. Like they did not want us. And so we're like, we're respectful, like we're not pushing anything, we're gonna close this down. Thank you for letting us, you know, have this moment. Yeah. The other tour we had, like the next day, we went to a tea leaf reading. Again, we're open for experiences. I had never had a tea reading before, so much so that I was complaining to Carissa before we went. I don't even like tea. So how is this gonna work? But we don't even taste the tea. So I thought that was really interesting. I'm like, I'm kind of a dumbass, like afterwards, but it was really a cool experience. Put your hands over the tea cup.

But so I've had a I've had a tea reading before, and that's not how they did it, but that's okay. How did you do it? We drank the tea, the tea settled at the bottom. So you drank it as much as you could, leaving the tea, like the remnants in the bottom, and then she would read the tea that was at the bottom of the cup. So it sounds, I mean, it sounds again, but this is this is par for the course. Like if you think about it with tarot and readings and how psychics and mediums work, everyone does it a little bit differently. So I'm I'm intrigued to hear how they read.

I'm happy to know I wasn't a dumbass then that you could be done the other way. Yeah.

I could have sworn I've seen that on TV where they drink it. Yep. Yep. You drink it all the way down as much as you can, and you leave the the tea pieces there and they they read from it's very similar in that sense to like tarot, where they're reading the images that are coming through. And actually, when I went to have the tea reading done, she put she actually told somebody that they were about to have a baby or they were going to be getting pregnant. And and in like five minutes later, she was like, So by the way, guys, I am pregnant. And so, like, it came through in the tea leaves, and like it was it was actually really, really cool. Do you remember your reading, Michelle?

Parts of it, like it was so validated. I remember sitting there, and those are always the best readings for for me. I like to go in and I don't need my future told, but I want to be validated in what I'm feeling. And when they pull that out, just looking at symbols in a cup, it's pretty amazing.

So, what was their process? You said you hold you held your hands over the tea.

SPEAKER_01 15:21

Yes, we held our hands over the tea, and then she turned it over and removed all the the tea grinds, or I don't know what I don't drink tea. So she hit it on there, they all came out, and then what was left in the cup is what she read.

Interesting. Okay, like all on the sides, and she showed you us the images in the tea leaves, and it was really cool. That's awesome. And we got a palm red too, which was very interesting. And I'm told Michelle she should get trained in it, so hopefully she will.

You told Michelle you were being a little pushy. I was thinking so she told me a couple times, like you need to do that.

So probably well, you know, it's it's interesting because the palms particularly is something that that's always intrigued me too. But I I just there's so much to a palm reading that I I I know I don't have the capacity in my brain to learn. And that's what I'm worried about.

It just seems like a whole lot of new information I'm gonna have to jump into. But really, as you said, it's a lot like tarot. And once you learn the images or you make that dictionary item for yourself, you read intuitively. Yeah. So that was a schedule one, but we did have a reading that wasn't scheduled. It was completely serendipitous the way it came about. We just were walking by a shop. We had been there the night before doing the paranormal society stuff. It was a place we were drawn to. And the man, because we looked, he was completely booked. His name was Sam, couldn't get in. Well, Chris is like, the storefront's really cool. I just want to go by there. And so we walked by there and he was there working on something, getting ready for a reading. And he's like, Yeah, sorry, I'm booked. And he's like, but I'll get you guys in. Like, if you guys want to come back here at five o'clock, I'm gonna get you in.

Wow. And it was really good in validating, very good.

So much so that you look for like the synchronicities. And one of the synchronicities that came through there is we were supposed to do dinner at five, but when he said he could get us in at five, it felt important enough to change our schedule around. So we did that. So we go to a restaurant, I'm sitting at the bar. Okay, we had drinks. We didn't just go to eat. We went to have a drink. I'm sitting at the bar and I'm not super outgoing, but there was a bartender there and I saw his name tag. I'm like, hey, Adam, how are you, Adam? I I just made note of his name and I said it out loud. Well, then when we back went back to the reading, he told us a story about his best childhood friend whose name was Adam. And I'm like, Oh wow, of all the names we could have come across, that's the one. And it just felt like so meant to be in that moment.

Now you know what's just coming to me. Adam wanted to let Sam know that he was still here with him.

I'm getting, yeah. I I wish I would have picked that up in the moment. I've been feeling the chills right now as you say that. I am as well.

I mean, I'm sure Sam is aware of that, but it was more, it was also like Hey, hey, hey, Sam.

And you know, when we do these things, you know, we could do our own readings for ourselves, for other people, but when we go to readings with other people, we're not there to judge or critique them. We're just there to have the experience also and to learn. And with Sam, we learned so much, even in that 45-minute period. One of the things that he mentioned, there were two, and I'll let Chris share one, but one of the things he mentioned is when you're talking to your guides, you know, set aside that time every day, but make it the same time because then the universe gets to get used to, like, oh, now and now it's two o'clock. I got to go talk with Michelle. She talks to me every day at two. And I never thought of it in that way. I just thought as long as I did it, that would be fine. So I am really going to try to incorporate that into my spiritual practices.

I love that. And I'm actually gonna back step for a moment because I love how you said that we don't step into readings, judging, or anything along those lines. And I will be fully and transparent and say sometimes I do.

Well, if they're if you know they're just negative or trying to, yeah, all that kind of stuff. Oh, the judgy. Yeah. Yeah.

I well, I was I was at a fair, was it last month or so? I don't remember when. And I kept walking by this one particular reader and I was just intrigued. And I finally sat and had a reading with her. And you could tell she was fishing and and like fishing for information based off my appearance and based off what she made assumptions about. And so while I do always give the benefit of the doubt, if I step into a reading and I know it's bullshit, I will sit there and I I play, I'm bad. I'm like, what else? What else? Is that gonna happen soon? And like, you know, and at the time, my other half was sitting there with me watching the entire thing. And when we walked away, he goes, There was nothing there in that tent with her. There was nothing. And and he even said it's it felt like she was making up the entire thing. So I do. I'm not, I'm I I will give the benefit of the doubt until I know it's complete and total bullshit. And then I sit and I play.

That's fair enough. I I go in with it. I go in trying to learn, but I can pick up and I have picked up, which we're gonna share a story in another future episode about an experience we had that wasn't exactly positive but taught a lot of lessons. Yeah. So, Krista, did you want to share the other piece of information that Sam shared?

I just bought my special candle off Etsy that has crystals in it and everything. And he said, light a candle at the end of the day. And I have it written down unless you know it off the top of your head, Michelle. And it said, Thank you for everything that you showed me. Was that it? I'm I know I've written it down.

Yeah, it was basically she'll look that up, but basically stepping into gratitude at the end of the day and letting that flow, flow into the house with you and fill that house and space with that gratitude and that reminder. Oh, that's really cool.

Yeah, I thought it was really pretty unique and special. So I mean, gratitude's a great way to start the day, but ending the day with gratitude just makes it it also makes sense too.

Yeah. So that was pretty special. And again, completely not expected. And so I think those are some of the very best things that can happen. We did have a few moments in New Orleans, like. Carissa chose a restaurant and it was lunchtime. We were sitting there and over her shoulder there was a a bookcase. It only had two books in it. And one of them was In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, which I mentioned in the last episode, how I had just gotten a copy of that. So that felt very on path. And again, when you're getting synchronicities, they can just have that meaning for you. They don't have to be big or huge, but it's just in that moment when you see it and you're like, they're just telling me I am on path right now.

It's a little nod, a little wink, right? It doesn't have to be huge. It doesn't have to be numbers. It doesn't have to have to be anything specific, but it has to feel that way to you.

Yes. And that's what I'm finding, you know, things that have that special pool behind them. We did get a story from a listener recently, which we love. Please send in your stories. Please share your experiences with us. And she felt it. She in that moment really felt the connection because they sent her an object. And then on the radio she was listening to, they were talking about that object. And she just knew. And I'm like, those are the best moments, like when you just know and the universe is doubling down on it. So it was really cool. It's very true. And then the other thing we did, the other tour that we're going to talk about in this episode, it was just a tour of the French Quarter, a haunted tour. It was a five-on-one tour. So they talked about murder and they talked about spirits and vampires and all of those things. Of course, they were talking about this haunted place called the Bourbon Room, which has kind of like spooky energy around it. And of course, Chris is like, we're going there. And I'm like, no, no, thank you. She's like, what time does it open? Because like we're gonna be there.

And I'm like, so just just one of the things that that you've you've said a few times, and I'm curious as to where you guys stand on this. But this whole vampire thing, can you guys expand a little bit on it? This is what this guy said.

Now I'm not so don't take what I say is everything is true. He said it's it's like a cult, a society, and that they are into drinking blood or and stuff like that. Now, please do not quote me this because if there's a someone in a vampire society listening in there, it's totally different. Again, please don't quote me this. I'm just quoting exactly what I was told from this one tour guy.

And they several people also said that it really New Orleans got that vampire vibe because that is where Anne Rice based her book interview of a vampire. And after that, that's when they saw the growth there. That's how I understood it.

I only ask because you've you've brought up vampires a few times, and I'm not sure where I stand on vampires, but I was just curious as to what the historical prevalence was there.

So, Chris, anything else you want to share about the trip to Nor New Orleans or the experiences that we had there?

Gosh, I learned so much from the tea readings. Sam gave more stuff, but I forgot y'all can get an online reading with both of them. And it was just so fun and fascinating to go into a different space where I was not in college and just going to party, but actually going in to learn and honor the culture and the history. That was super fun. That is really cool.

And everyone there was so nice and so open and wanting to talk to you. Why are you there? Like and sharing experiences that they had also. So it was fun, fun trip.

Okay, well, I forgot about San Francisco, but I had Seattle on there. I had Jerome, Arizona. That's where you were thinking of. And I did have Las Vegas. Did I already say Las Vegas? I had those three. Other places that came up, Little Rock, Arkansas, Savannah, Georgia, Park City, Utah. And then internationally going to Scotland and England. Those Scotland and England would be a dream come true for me. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Ireland as well. Oh, we're all we're all three going to Scotland. Yeah. I would love to go. We are. We are. And not just to see the men in beautiful kilts, the beautiful Scotland Scottish men. That's where her brain goes first. 100%. Yeah. Yes. Yes.
