Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality
(@ThreeCups_and_a_Dash)
On this week's episode of Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality, Stacy and I will dive into Reiki. What is it? How does it show up? And why does this gentle form of healing resonate with so many people? With that, let's start the music.
SPEAKER_01Hello, everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of Three Cups in a Dash of Spirituality. Today we are unfortunately missing a cup, but I am here with Michelle. Hi everyone. Hey Stacy. Hi. You and I are going to kind of dive into something that I think we both enjoy, right?
SPEAKER_00Yes, something that has always fascinated me, and I could use some more education on it. And I know that I am talking to the perfect person because not only are you a spectacular podcaster and so many other things, a medium, a psychic, but you are also a Reiki master.
SPEAKER_01I am. I went through a certification several years ago. So I'm actually a Reiki master teacher. So I do certify people in the use and practice of Reiki too, which is pretty cool, I think.
SPEAKER_00And everyone listening, she's a wonderful teacher. She was my Reiki teacher, and I do have all the training, but I've never stepped into using it or utilizing it. So, Stacy, do you want to share with everybody what Reiki is?
SPEAKER_01Sure. Absolutely. So I kind of prepared this and I'm I'm going to go a little bit through Chat GBT because I was trying to figure out how to explain Reiki energy healing and what it actually does. So I'm going to kind of lean into that a little bit because the language is good. It's Reiki is the art of remembering that healing already lives within you. It's a quiet exchange between breath, intention, and universal life force. Through gentle touch or hovering hands, energy moves where it is needed most without force, without judgment. Reiki flows beyond time, beyond belief, restoring balance in the body and heart and spirit. Some may feel warmth when they're utilizing Reiki. Some feel waves of calm. Others simply feel held. This is an ancient practice and it does not heal for you. It awakens the healer within you. It's in stillness, energy listens, in surrender, the body responds. Reiki is not something you receive, but something you remember. So what I love about this explanation is it really demonstrates that while as a Reiki, you know, master teacher, I am triggering a response within your body, but it's your body that is actually doing the work.
SPEAKER_00And I love so many of the words that were pulled into that description because I've had several Reiki sessions and they resonate because sometimes it does feel like there are hands floating above me. Sometimes I feel tingling in my body or in that area. And while I'm sitting there in meditation, relaxing, I'm like, oh, I got to remember this because I got to ask them about it afterwards. Because we've done all of our sessions online through Zoom or the telephone. So you're not physically anywhere near me, but the experience is as if you were right there.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, the beautiful thing, and I think ultimately I'm just gonna say the cool thing about Reiki is because you're triggering that healing part in another person's body, oftentimes you're guiding it in a way to clear through the chakra system. So I know for me, whenever I am sitting in a Reiki session and I am rebalancing or helping somebody with their energy body, I'm usually kind of going through the whole energetic body at the time, which is again the chakra system, and focusing on each, each one individually, seeing what potential blockages are there and what needs to happen to get it moving. And interestingly, I know we had talked about doing this in a in a future episode, and we will. This is also where attachments can kind of take on, is in your energy body. And so whenever I find attachments in individuals or in homes, it's it's surrounded by the energy body. Because I do also believe homes have kind of the same system setup, but different. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_00It does, and it's very fascinating. I can't wait to talk about that part of things in the future episode. And who knows, it might be next week's episode. Just a little hint. Hint, hint, dungeon, dungeon. Anyhow, as you were talking, I'm very curious because you first went into the psychic medium part, the tarot reading. What drew you into wanting to do the healing work? Was there something that you were feeling inside your body and needing a place or somewhere to identify that? Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_01It no, it makes it makes perfect perfect sense. And I think for me, learning is healing. So I think at that point in time, whenever I started, you know, studying Reiki and learning more about the energy systems and the body, I found this direct connection between having psychic abilities or, you know, mediumship abilities and what the energy body is actually doing. So when I'm around other individuals who are, I don't want to say, I guess I'm gonna just say energetically off, I feel that immediately. And what I was finding is I would get these impressions. And I I remember you and I actually, this is probably a couple of years ago, having a conversation on the phone. And I said, I was experiencing something and I felt really off. And I had to step back because it clicked for some reason. This isn't me. This isn't my stuff, this isn't my energy. And once I had the realization that I was carrying somebody else's energetic woe, as it were, it clicked and I was able to just let it go and move forward. Later on, stepping into a reading with them, I started talking to them about their energetic body and was able to determine, you know, it was, it was hands, I believe. My hands just started to hurt physically. And in the in the reading that I did, it was they were making something for someone and they were really pushing to get it done on time. So their hands were were in a lot of pain. And I and I remember saying, you have to take care of your hands, or you're you're really gonna have an even harder time long term. But I was experiencing that pain and I had to separate myself from that energy and then kind of go from there. Does that all make sense?
SPEAKER_00It sure does. And I'll just say my step into healing or my form of healing, because I think you can take Reiki and take all the principles of it and blend it with your own style of things. But I had gone to many readings as I was awakening, and everyone's like, you're a healer, you're a healer. And I'm like, I don't know what that means. I'm an empath, I can feel emotions as if they're my own. It's hard to separate sometimes, but I would get this weird tingling in my hands that I didn't quite know what to do with.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, so that's kind of where my interest came from. But when I were, when I was listening to you talk about what drew you in, again, I'm thinking back to so many of our sessions. And I don't even, let's say I don't even need a Reiki session, or I don't believe I do, and I'm not asking you because you do my Reiki for me. But we'll be talking on the phone, or you'll call me and you're like, Do you need a Reiki session? And I trust you because you do have that instinct of something's off. There's something there that's not balanced or is working overdrive or not performing at all. And that's always impressed me about you. Like you know it before I know it.
SPEAKER_01Right. And and it's it's always an interesting thing because it's it's very instinctual when I step into healing sessions too. It's never like a, oh, this is what you've got going on in your life. It's a, I'm feeling this. Let's talk about what you have going on in your life. For example, your root chakra, which I it's foundational. Your root chakra is a foundation to life. So there have been instances where I've stepped into a Reiki session and someone just their root chakra is so blocked, there's no movement happening. And I'm like, let's talk about your living situation. Let's talk about, you know, what is happening in in your life. Because oftentimes, if there's in housing instability, your root chakra is going to be blocked or not kind of moving the way it's supposed to be moving. And I've always been really surprised to come back to these sessions going, let's talk about your root, like, let's talk about this specific chakra and tell me what's going on. And looking at the correlation between life and, you know, exactly what's happening in the energy body. It's it's amazing to me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it definitely is. And would you say that you do most of your Reiki sessions online or in person? And when you do them in such different ways, is the feel different or does it feel the same to you even if the physical body isn't in front of you?
SPEAKER_01So I do the majority of them online. I can do them in person, but I like it's very interesting because I find that my Reiki sessions start sometimes days before they're actually happening. So I I have to be kind of honest and say I prefer online because it allows me to do the work, but also just sit in a silent meditation, which I can always use as well. But the clearing and the cleaning, once, once a someone has signed up for a Reiki session with me, it starts then because you're giving me permission to clean out your energy body. I'm gathering information. You know, I I will wake up in the morning of our session and I'm like, oh, I need to write this down because I feel this in the energy body, or I think this pertains to this person. This has nothing to do with what what my what's happening in my life. So it starts way before. So, you know, a a good example of this is I I got a call last week from somebody that was worried about, you know, having negative attachment. And that's that to me, that's that's an energy clear. That's like, let's look into this, let's do this. But that started as soon as that phone call happened.
SPEAKER_00That's amazing. And I know uh we've connected in so many ways with this, as you said, ahead of time, or I'm sitting there and I'm feeling something and you'll call me and you're like, what's what's going on? So I completely understand what you're saying there. Also, when you were talking about going into meditation, I always laugh because you're like, you know, how do I put this? I'm laying down in meditation in my personal space. And you're like, if you open your eyes and you look at your Zoom screen, you're gonna see me doing all this weird stuff with my hands and stuff. So I it just made me laugh when I heard that. But also, what it made me think about is so many times when you go into the Reiki meditation to help someone, you're not alone. No, you're calling in their guides. I work a lot with Archangel Michael, and you've seen him there and you've seen my loved ones there helping you and guiding you. And I think like I'm getting teared up thinking of it because it's such a beautiful, beautiful thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, not just guides, guardian angels, everything, anything that that I feel needs to be present. Oftentimes, if I'm doing a clearing, which is a little bit different than a Reiki session, I'm I'm inviting three, four archangels in just for protection and for, you know, healing. But those tools that that, you know, stepping back into just specifically Reiki, it's it's not I am I'm invoking your body to respond energetically the way it's designed to respond. And I think it's it's very calming, very healing, very beautiful because the studies and the research, uh, the the science behind it is also there too. I know we're we've talked in the past about the water experiments, correct? Yes. And we know that if we speak uh negatively to water and see it freeze, it's really under a microscope microscope not not a beautiful sight. But if we speak positively in in in a healing capacity to that uh, you know, body of water and then freeze it and put it under a microscope, it really is beautiful. Like the it if if listeners, if you have opportunity, do do a little research on this, just look up water studies and and communication, because this is what Reiki does within the body. We are 70% water, and Reiki evokes the healing aspect within our bodies, kind of touching on that, speaking, you know, positively, triggering that need that we have to feel and hear good things in life.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And if you are open to it and Reiki is something that you want to try, just stay open to it because what you're gonna be experiencing in meditation often mimics what your Reiki practitioner is going through and and her or his point of view from their perspective. So it is just amazing. And I always feel so much better afterwards to kind of know and hear what's going on because of course I'm feeling it. If I'm feeling like stuck or worried about finances or something, of course I'm like something's out of balance, or if I'm too foggy in the brain, yeah, my third eye's out of whack. Right. Um, so it really, really is healing. And you can get a lot of information. And you, as the person experiencing Reiki, you're gonna get a lot of visuals too. You're gonna get a lot of sensations. And if you don't, that's fine too. It's just how your body is going to react to the experience.
SPEAKER_01Right. And and that I think is a really key point, too, that you just said, because sometimes people will sit in meditation and have Reiki, you know, activated within their body and they won't feel anything. But perhaps a few days later, they're gonna have more intuitive hits than they would have gotten in the past, or they're just more open to the flow of universal energy, universal life force. Sometimes people get really warm. You know, there has been a Reiki session that I've done where somebody got really nauseous and they just kind of had to breathe through it. And once the session was complete, they felt fine. So it's really the gambit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the weirdest emotion I ever felt was anxiety. Like everything was fine, and then like my anxiety came in. And as you said, you breathe through it, and then we talk about it afterwards. I do know that after you do have a Reiki session, one of the most important things to do for the next 24 hours is to drink lots of water.
SPEAKER_01Drink lots of water. Absolutely. Yeah. Because again, we're made of water, so we need to keep that cleansing going. And what's the other, the other piece that I find kind of interesting too is oftentimes in a Reiki session, my guides will give me information to share with the person that is getting Reiki and that, you know, suggestions like write in a journal, self-reiki, meditation, like they'll offer tidbits to help keep that energy balanced and continue the flow the way it's supposed to. And what it comes down to is healing is a choice of the individual being healed too. So there is a modem of control within the body to continue to allow the healing to take place. And control to me is is a very negative word, but it's the only one that I can think of. It's it's kind of it's our choice, is what it comes down to. If we choose to continue healing or to see the healing work, we have to be open to it and we have to allow for that to take place.
SPEAKER_00And I want to make two points to that. The first one is my favorite part, as I said probably earlier, is the debrief part in which you give me pointers from my guides or things that you've picked up. And one of those, and I'll give an example, was grounding to moon energy over earth energy. That that was very important for me to keep that connection with Luna. And so as you were talking, the other thing I was thinking about when you're talking about healing and it's your choice to receive it for that reason. And just like as a psychic or medium, you're not tapping into people's thoughts all the time. You're not going to tap in to someone and help heal them unless they ask. So it is very much permission-based, something that they need to ask for. If you had someone you're doing Reiki on and they're like, could you send a little loving care to so-and-so? You can send loving care, but you can't send healing energy unless you ask. Is that correct?
SPEAKER_01That is correct. So there is an ethical piece of Reiki healing, and it is you don't typically send energy or do anything energetically to somebody without their direct permission. With that said, too, there is another layer to that, which I experienced as kind of an oopsie. And that is, I had permission to help someone with healing and started to do it. And my guides and their guides put up very strong, like, nope, you can't do this. You can't heal this. It's not supposed to be. They are supposed to be experiencing this. Stop this right now. And I was very taken aback because typically my guides wouldn't be like, no, you can't heal this person that wants to be healed. It was you can't heal this one thing because this is a piece of their experience here on earth. But you can help alleviate some of the pain around it. So I had to shift the way I healed based on I'm I'm gonna say, I don't want to say rules, but ethics around, you know, energy, energetically healing healing. It's the same thing like when you go into a space that is haunted, that you have these spirits, stuck spirits. And my first instinct is clear them. Like they, they don't, they shouldn't be here. They need to move on. But the reality is some spirits choose to watch and be and continue on in certain spaces on on the planet.
SPEAKER_00So when you're in that ethical situation and guides have said, don't touch this area or you can't work on this area, is that information then that you share with the client too? Like this is something you're supposed to go through. So I did this in order to alleviate it, but I can't touch that.
SPEAKER_01It all depends on the situation. With this particular instance that I'm talking, the permission was secondary. So it was like, hey, can you send healing to my daughter? She gave permission. And and I had I trust people in that they're not saying that someone gave permission if they didn't. And with that, I might share a little bit of information with the person that's asking me to do it. But it all depends on the circumstances. You know, it's it's much like I had somebody ask me a couple weeks ago, and I don't think I've shared this with you, Michelle, if I would do a reading around whether or not they were gonna die during uh their treatment because they just got diagnosed with with a pretty heavy cancer diagnosis. And they were asking me if I could do a reading for them to see if they were gonna make it through or if they're gonna pass throughout treatment. And immediately I went, no, absolutely not. There's no way that that I would even step into that. So when it's heavy information like that, I I will not come come out and share certain things.
SPEAKER_00Right. Because tarot is just like if you're staying on the same timeline, this or you're doing the same exact things, this is what could happen, but it's only a possibility. And I'm sure in a case like that, if you were to step in and see something, it takes away the hope, it takes away the fight. Right. So I completely understand that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and and it can be the same way, different, but the same way for Reiki is Reiki is there for healing, it's there for comfort. It it does aid in crossing over, it does aid in healing from surgeries. There, like I said, there's a lot of science behind it, which I find amazing, and that's why, you know, I I love it as much as I do. However, there is a fine line between what are we manipulating and what are we supposed to be manipulating and how much information is too much for our own awareness?
SPEAKER_00Right. And I know we're gonna get into the different chakras, but Reiki is working within those chakra centers, and there are many chakras, but there are seven primary chakras. When you go in to a Reiki session and one is stuck, one of the chakras is stuck. What does that feel like to you? Because they normally spin. Is it like spinning slowly? Is it spinning backwards? What do you see when you see a slow down chakra?
SPEAKER_01It's more of a feel. So it can it can feel slow, sluggish. You know, that they do typically spin. It's it's sometimes when when they're not spinning or there's there's a block directly, it feels like a wall. And I have to kind of stop and go, okay, what is this wall? And that's and that's actually where I get a lot of really neat visuals. There was a session that I was doing for somebody, and their root chakra was seriously blocked. And it showed up as like I was standing in front of a door that would not open. And so I had to actually like in my mind back away from the door to see what was what else was there because I was outside and the door was right in front of me. And what was happening is they were kind of standing in their own way in life. So when I when I backed up to kind of clear the energy, I looked over and the door, it was just a door. So I was able to just walk around the door to get through energetically, and and the door didn't really need to be there. So it it's all very visual and it's a feeling.
SPEAKER_00And I know before you've said to me, Michelle, your third eye is overactive. What does an overactive chakra feel like to you?
SPEAKER_01Again, it can feel chaotic out of balance. It particularly the third eye. That's I think the third eye is the one that I see the most in people who are intuitive. Is there's so much information coming to you all at once that you can't make heads or tails out of it. Like the third eye specifically feels to me like a bunch of people talking all at the same time, and you're trying to figure out what each one is saying.
SPEAKER_00That is chaotic. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And that's, you know, an act an overactive third eye is going to be there's so much flowing through that I'm supposed to intuitively be gathering, but I can't make heads or tails out of it. So I'm I'm almost shutting down because I'm so overwhelmed.
SPEAKER_00That makes sense. When you're talking about that, the visual that's coming to my mind is you're standing there and there's like a windstorm and it's blowing all these things past you. And it's just like you're trying to reach up and grab a few things to make sense of the whole picture.
SPEAKER_01And and you're not able to because it just everything else gets louder or the wind picks up. And, you know, I I I gonna equate it to a movie that I've seen where there were a bunch of keys flying around a room and one key needed to be gathered. But as soon as you started reaching for the key that you needed, everything went chaotic and just like it incredibly like overwhelming.
SPEAKER_00Would that be a Harry Potter movie?
SPEAKER_01Yes, it would be.
SPEAKER_00I thought so. I wasn't I I love that I'm versed in Harry Potter. A question that came to mind is if somebody is looking for a Reiki practitioner, what should they look for?
SPEAKER_01That is an awesome, awesome question. And and I'm gonna say somebody whose energy you vibe with that you that you can like if you can find somebody online, that's awesome. If you would rather do in person, like there are people who who practice in different, you know, I I had a space where I shared with a massage therapist for a long time so that I could do Reiki in person. I I no longer have that space, so I only offer long distance Reiki at this point in time, but I will travel to, depending on location. Like I'm not gonna fly across the country for a Reiki session, but you look for somebody whose energy you jive with that you can hear say, say things that sometimes may not sound, I don't want to say sound nice, but may come across and open up, I'm gonna say potential wounds that you didn't realize you still needed to heal. You know, a lot of conversations in Reiki sessions are centered around healing and wellness and balance. And if you're not feeling in a space to have those conversations, you have to make sure that you've got a practitioner that can read those signs too and is willing to just work with you energetically. Like, so yeah, I would say somebody that you jive with.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was talking to someone recently and they were asking about going to counseling. And I said, my biggest piece of advice is if you go and you find a counselor and at the end of it you don't feel like your personalities jive or you're not going in a direction you want to, it is okay to step away from that counseling relationship and find a different counselor. And it sounds like it's the same thing for a Reiki practitioner.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. And and I equate, I'll even, I'll even add on to what you just said because I loved it so much. But I tell people finding a counselor, finding anybody that you're working with energetically, anything personal like that is like finding a pair of shoes. If they're too big, you're not gonna wear them. If they're too small, you know, and and they're gonna pinch your feet and rub in the wrong places, you're not going to wear them. You need the right size. So counselors, Reiki masters, Reiki practitioners, any sort of energy worker needs to fit.
SPEAKER_00And I'm gonna add on to that a little bit, and maybe this makes sense. But when you leave a Reiki session, you should feel a little bit better. But that may not always be the case because things might have been picked at that you're gonna now have to work through, but you're aware of it. So even if like the practitioner feels like a really good fit and you leave your session and you're not feeling like totally happy or you're a little discombobulated, that's part of the growing process together. That's part of that healing energy working because healing is work picking at scabs. Healing can take time and you're not gonna have all the answers at once. But I would say at the end of it, like you've had a couple days to sit with it and you want to go back and you feel that energetic connection, then that's the right fit.
SPEAKER_01So I'm gonna add on to that because I absolutely agree. I think sometimes when people leave breaky sessions, they can actually feel worse. And it's not because it didn't work, it's not because it's not doing its job, it's not because of any other reason other than you are essentially taking something away that the person was used to having in their energy body. So when you take away pain or certain experiences that that ha held a lot of weight energetically, there is this thought process of kind of backfilling, backfilling with things that you actually need in life, balance, love, all of this stuff. But your energy body now has to adjust to getting rid of one thing and inserting another. It it can be looked at as I changing a piercing. Changing a piercing is a lot of fun, right? Like for those that have piercings and can understand this, it's a lot of fun. But sometimes when we change an earring or or something that's that's like that, it can cause pain because we're removing one and perhaps it's not fully healed and putting in another. And and so we have to readjust. New glass glasses prescription, same thing. We can see better, but now we have to adjust to seeing better.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. And it is, I love that you use that backfill because when I do clearings, which we'll talk about not in next week's episode, because now we're gonna have to talk about chakras and then the clearings. Um, but backfilling. Like when I remove something that is heavy, I always backfill it with love. And it's kind of still allowing that to flow in in the process. So I I like that word that you use there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it feels different. And I think that that's the hard thing is we get so used to it's it's like another really good visual that just popped in my head. And I'm I'm gonna thank Simon for this one because it was so perfect. When we have surgery and something is surgically inserted into our body. So I'm gonna say we have a metal rod put in, our body naturally adjusts to the metal rod. It gets used to it. We end up seeing scar tissue built on it. There's a lot of work that goes into that that our body is doing without us going, hey, you need to make it work. Our body is just doing that naturally. If we have to go in and have it removed, we're also removing the work that the body did. That's true. Yeah, I just thought that was thank you, Simon. Thank you, Stacy. Yeah, that was awesome. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, if you're looking for a wonderful Reiki practitioner, you have one right here. It's Stacy. She's the one that does my Reiki sessions, and I trust her with everything. She's helped me through so much, helped me grow, helped me get rid of attachments. And it's just a really nice flowing Reiki session. So you can find her information in our bio, on our social media, or you can share it right here too, Stacy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you can reach out to me. Um, I think the best way to find me is either through Facebook, which is Insight with Stacy, or even my website, which is Insight with Stacy as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you won't be disappointed. And I love that we've spent this whole episode talking about Reiki specifically. Is there anything else you want to share about Reiki before we close this out?
SPEAKER_01I guess the only other little tidbit that I'll share about Reiki is getting certified as a Reiki practitioner, even level one, opens you up to a world of healing that you don't expect because we only have access to about 10% of that healing without awakening the Reiki within us. So the cool thing about learning it and using it, even just that that first level, allows us to heal more strongly, at least for ourselves.
SPEAKER_00I concur. I concur with that. And I have felt that and had that experience myself. Well, since we didn't get to them this week, next week we're going to be talking about our chakras. What are they? Where are they located? All that fun stuff. So something to look forward to. And I guess we'll close this episode out and see you next week. Stay classy, stay sassy, and stay a little badassy.
SPEAKER_01Bye.
