Hello everyone, & welcome to our podcast Whispers from the Mist: Conversations from the Spiritual Byway!
This episode explores the mystery of time travel through both science and intuition, weaving together theories like the Theory of Relativity with compelling stories and personal reflections. What begins as curiosity quickly deepens into questions about fate, free will, and the risks of altering a timeline. Along the way, synchronicities and spiritual insights suggest that timing may be more meaningful than we realize. Rather than offering answers, this conversation invites you to consider what you believe and whether time is as fixed as it seems, or something far more fluid.

Hey everyone, on this week's episode of Whispers from the Mists, Conversations from the Spiritual Byway, Stacy and I step into the mystery of time travel, where science meets intuition and possibilities stretches beyond what we can explain. We explore the theories that try to ground it, the stories that make you question it, and the potential risks of moving through time itself. Along the way, we're going to share our own thoughts on questions such as will we rather go back or forward in time? And what kind of proof would we need to truly believe in time travel? This is a conversation that opens more doors than it closes. So take what resonates and we will continue the conversation along the spiritual byway.
SPEAKER_01I am Stacy, and with me is Michelle. Hi Stacy.
SPEAKER_00Hi, how are you? I'm doing well. You got the name completely right today, and you said it with enthusiasm. So maybe it's starting to stick.
SPEAKER_01We can't deny that you may have helped ahead before you hit the record button because my mind went completely blank when you asked me to bring us in. And I immediately went, who are we?
SPEAKER_00I know. I will admit sometimes I'll go to type in our social media or type something, and I start with three cups, and I'm like, nope, delete, delete, delete. So it the struggle is real, but we're getting it, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, I guess we can also jump in to this week's topic because we're going to be talking about time travel. So maybe what we need to do is time travel ahead so that we are fully prepared and remember everything about this podcast, and then we can time travel back and have that information moving forward.
SPEAKER_00Hey, I'm just saying, why not?
SPEAKER_01Anything's possible, right? Yeah, anything's possible. But I heard a rumor in regards to time travel that you might have a story.
SPEAKER_00Well, I have a story, and it's related more to this episode that we're doing today. Many of our listeners may not know this, but we have tried to record this episode on time travel two times previously. The first time, you're like, hey, wait a minute, I want to get a little more information. So we postponed it. And the second time, we just started talking. We went off on tangents. You were so cool, and you kept trying to pull us back to the topic. And I kept saying, no, but let's just talk about one more thing. So the timing of the universe wasn't right. But this morning when I woke up, as I always do, I play my games and then I open Instagram. And the very first post on Instagram was on time travel.
SPEAKER_01Uh, well, how interesting is that?
SPEAKER_00It was super interesting. In addition to that, I hear in my head, check the time, which I did, and it was 5'11. And for me, when the universe says check the time, it's like there's a message there. So I went in and I looked into the angel number 511, and it was very supportive of this episode. And what this one means is about change, but then staying the course too. And that felt very important because, you know, we've had to change it up, we've had to morph things to fit what the universe was telling us, and now the timing's just right. In addition, and this is kind of irrelevant, but yesterday I was looking at information on Whispers from the Mist. And we have been on like this wave of lots of views, and then it dips. And so you're kind of like, what's going on? And, you know, is this what I'm supposed to be doing? And I felt that 5'11, you know, stain the course, momentum, keep going, timing perfectly aligned with that as a reassurance that right place, right time. I love that. I love how symbols come up like that. I know. And that is how the universe speaks to me. It's always how it has, it like doubles down. It gives me a message, and then quickly two more to follow through. And it just walks me in there naturally. And so I thought I'd just share it because maybe our timing in this world right now didn't line up perfectly with an episode on time travel. But today is that day.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's interesting how the the universe gives us these messages. And I'm gonna derail us uh away from time travel for just another moment because you just reminded me of the dream that I had last night. And the dream that I had actually very rarely do I wake up from dreams and look up the symbolism behind things. But in my dream, I saw my tattooer, and he was giving me a very specific tattoo, like on my face, like right here. And in the dream, he put the stencil on and he had it perfectly placed. And I realized that I didn't have any money. I didn't have money to pay him. My wallet was completely empty. And so I started panicking and I was walking around the shop trying to figure out what I was gonna do. And I finally took him aside and I said, you know, I don't have money to pay you. And he was like, When do you get paid? And I was like, tomorrow. I said, I'll have money tomorrow. And he was like, You are one of the most regular clients. You are golden, just pay me tomorrow. It's not a problem. Do you know what the symbol that I was getting tattooed on my face was? I have no idea. It was a pig.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Very specifically, like a cute little outline of a pig. Do you know what pigs symbolize? Like good fortune, abundance, good fortune. Yes.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01They are associated with that positive like shift in the universe. So it I just thought it was very interesting that I was getting that tattooed on my face. And it was mostly like, don't worry about the money piece. So I just I thought that was really, really neat. But that's, you know, symbols from the universe, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then doubling down on that, because that is what the pig symbolizes, and your whole struggle there was you didn't have money in that day, but they're like, don't worry about it. I mean, so then it was spoken too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. I thought that was really, really cool. Yeah, little messages from the universe. And I know that has nothing to do with time travel, but it is talking about that future focus too. It's talking about how a symbol today can mean more to you in next week than it does in the moment.
SPEAKER_00That's so true. And, you know, some people would say that we time travel every single year because every single year we're a year in the future. But that's not what we're talking about today. We're not talking about that linear forward movement time travel. We're talking more about the idea of time travel, the ability to move back in time or forward in time.
SPEAKER_01Or pause time, perhaps.
SPEAKER_00Pause time and very theoretical, although I'm sure there are many studies in science that have more information. So what do you think about time travel?
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's such a broad question. What do I think about it? You know, I'm I am intrigued by time travel. You know, when I did the research a couple of weeks ago prepping for this episode, I remember pulling up some really interesting, you know, information about the idea that possible predictions, which we've talked about in the past, possible predictions and, you know, things that have been laid out for the future are due to the idea of time travel. I am a firm believer that anything is possible. I've obviously, if I met somebody from the future, I I don't know if I would share that on a podcast, but I've never met anybody from the future.
SPEAKER_00But can we be sure? Because you'd never share that on a podcast.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's that's you know, the whole the whole thing is is I I don't, you know, maybe I have, maybe we all have. Maybe somebody in our lives is, you know, time traveled backwards and they're here fixing life.
SPEAKER_00Who knows? I know it is such a broad subject. And to focus just on the idea of time travel has been very hard because there are many different ways I could go with it. But I'm specifically talking about moving backwards or forwards on this timeline. And it has been so popularized in science fiction movies, things like Back to the Future or Somewhere or Time or The Time Traveler's Wife, that it is just a fascinating concept. Right. It really is. And there's so many ways we could start. We could start with science first and step into Albert Einstein's theory of relativity. Fancy. I know I am. I took notes. Like I spent a lot of time and I've had, you know, extra weeks to contemplate this. So, but Einstein has the theory of relativity. That's the one I want to talk about where gravity curves space and time. And in order to move forward in time, so we're talking then about the the speed of light. And it does seem that the closer you are to the speed of light, the slower that time um travels moves. Yeah, the slower that time moves. So then it begs to question yes, you can probably move forward in time. And they have these experiments that they've done with like airplane travel and how it's like seven minutes in the future or something. Right. Don't ask me to explain it further because I can't. I'm just trying to wrap my little human brain around it that's just a little brain compared to it. It breaks the brain whenever you try to step into it. It really does. But, you know, with that said, time travel to the future is more possible according to this than time travel to the past.
SPEAKER_01It's interesting that you say that you can you can travel forward, but we haven't been able to test the traveling backwards. I find that fascinating.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's the research that I've done, and that's just based on the theory of relativity and the speed of light and the fact that if you slow down, you can move forward faster, but moving backwards in time would be harder to prove. Not that it can't be done, not that it hasn't been done. But I was just stepping quickly into that theory. I wrote down a couple different examples of when people said time travel could have possibly happened. The first time or the first story that I have for you today happened in Versailles, France. And there were two female academics who went to Versailles, and this happened in August of 1901. And while they were there, they experienced like a time warp or something. They stepped into a different time period and found themselves surrounded by people in 18th century clothing. And Marie Antoinette was there.
SPEAKER_01That's correct. That's how I read it. Yeah, and and they were completely, they had no idea how to explain what they had experienced.
SPEAKER_00No, I mean the whole landscape transitioned back into a time and place where they weren't fitting. And it became quiet, it became a little eerie, and both of them came away with it having some of the same feelings and emotions about what had happened. And so you look at that incident and you're thinking, what did happen? And, you know, maybe it was a portal, or maybe it was someone's recorded memory that they stepped into that was still lingering there instead of something repeating it pulled someone into it. What do you think?
SPEAKER_01I like the idea that they traveled to a different time, even if it was just for a momentary like experience. It's interesting though, because you can step into that whole energetic vortex idea that you just brought up. And I guess I hadn't really been thinking about it. But the idea that there's energy or like, you know, we talk about hauntings, for example, a space that can be haunted by a memory. And so every year at X time, you know, you step into this like almost theatrical performance that's going on in this time and space that's trapped there. And like, I guess I had not considered that they potentially could have done something along those lines. I like the idea that they were just in this like blip of space travel. Because a lot of the other stories that I know I read, and I don't have like an example to pull out of my hat, but you know, a lot of them, uh, the stories that that came up when I was researching this idea of time travel centered around aliens or extraterrestrial activity and things like that, where people lost hours and days and would come back wearing the same exact clothes that they were wearing when they disappeared.
SPEAKER_00I think that is a whole new podcast idea. Yeah. Because there are so many stories of that happening.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like they get lost in space. And I know that's a movie too, but lost in time, lost in space.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, had I heard or had this conversation with you prior to writing down my notes on this event, I might have looked to see if August 10th had a significant meaning in Versailles. Historical, yeah. Yeah, I didn't think about that connection. I thought, oh, maybe they stepped into someone's memory, maybe they just stepped in a space between spaces. It was August 10th of 1901. And if people want to go look at this story a little more in depth, it's called the Moberly Jordan experience because those were the last names of the ladies. Now, naysayers or critics might say that the two women just made it up that perhaps they hallucinated it, or maybe they visited Versailles on the day, and I'm probably not saying that right because I am not French, Versailles, on a day they were hosting a costume party. But that wouldn't be the idea of lip. That wouldn't be just a blip.
SPEAKER_01That just pulled up. What is interesting is August 10th in 1792, which is the day they supposedly slipped to, is what is saying here when I just pulled it up, was a pivotal day in the French Revolution. Okay, there you have it. So someone's recorded memory.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Perhaps. So I'm wondering, yeah, it's it's interesting because I I looked up August like historical, but now let me see what happened in 1792. It's marked as the effective fall of the monarchy, although it did not take place in Versailles. On this day, revolutionary storms, a palace, I'm not even gonna attempt to say it, a palace in Paris, forcing King Louis to seek refuge, paving way for the first republic.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01So it was a historical day.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, August 10th. So go look it up. So that was one of the things that popped up when I typed in time travel. Another one that was quite curious has everything to do with a Charlie Chaplin movie. And the name of the movie is The Circus, and it was made in 1928, and there is a scene in the background in which a woman is walking, and as she's walking, she's holding something up to her ear and appears to be talking into it. Interesting. So like a cell phone, like a cell phone, but there were no mobile devices back then.
SPEAKER_02That's exciting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, some people find that very strong evidence to support time travel. However, historians or naysayers, which you've got to have discernment when you're thinking about this, because I feel like whenever I go into a space, it is to find an explanation other than something spiritual, like let's walk through everything to make sure. So that's not important.
SPEAKER_01Really shake down the logic possibilities before we step into spiritual ones because we want to prove that it's it's not necessarily just an open door or a door that's hinges are not working properly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, or something like you're gonna write about it and someone's gonna challenge you, like, hey, it could have just been this. But critics would say that perhaps it was an old-fashioned hearing aid. And they did kind of look like that back then. Okay. Or she was just adjusting something near her ear, like pulling her hair back, or for some reason for her to have her hand there. Right. Interesting. Yes. And so that one hasn't been debunked. I mean, they've re-made the film and it's there. And again, critics would say it's a hearing aid. Now, there is a story that I found and it had to do with a man on Wall Street, and his name was Andrew Carlson, C-A-R-L-S-S-I-N. And this happened in 2003. Supposedly, he invested $800 in the stock market and turned it into roughly $350 million. And he did this by making trades that didn't make sense, or trades that were always accurate. So, of course, what's going to happen? He's going to get investigated. Right. And when they came to investigate him, he says, I just have this information because I'm from the year 20 or how do you say it? 2256. I'll just say it like that. That's the easiest way. So the FBI started doing their research. They couldn't find any information on him. He was arrested, posted a million dollars bail, and then disappeared. Interesting. That was later found to be a hoax, though. Ah, that's sad. So people were stepping into like, what are possibilities about this? And I think it was something written for, I don't know, not April Fools or anything like that, but it was something listed that was later proven to be false. That was debunked, yeah. Yeah. So you need to use that discernment. But it's fascinating. It's fascinating. Yeah, it's it's really cool. So what do you think you would need to see from someone to have you believe in time travel?
SPEAKER_01Number one, that's a really good question. It's a really hard question. I think I would probably not need a whole lot because I would trust my gut first and foremost. If I if I had reason to believe them, I would, you know, easily step into that and just choose to trust them. Now, if they got me the winning lottery numbers or, you know, made me a filthy, rich billionaire in this life, like that would be amazing because they had, you know, the secret numbers from the future. That would probably prove it to me pretty easily. That would be proof.
SPEAKER_00I I agree. I believe in proof like that. Ethical, I don't know, but proof, definitely.
SPEAKER_01We don't even want to jump into ethics on that one. Let's be real. But with that said, I I honestly would trust my gut. I don't know if I would choose to question them too much, because I'm not here to disprove what people believe in their lives. I'm not here to demonstrate that they're wrong. I'm not here for those reasons. And even if they did not truly time travel, if they had information they thought was important for me to know, I don't have reason to question that because it's not gonna harm me in in this lifetime to not believe them. Do you know? Does that make any sense?
SPEAKER_00It makes sense. And you're so nice about that. I would want like that solid proof, like undeniable, not to challenge them and their beliefs, but rather to confirm something that I think exists.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, you're not wrong, and I don't disagree with you. It's just, I think for me, it's it's I don't, I I guess I just, I don't know. I I want to just believe people, and I choose to kind of step into that.
SPEAKER_00Well, I like that. I like that's a good answer. And do you think it would be easier to believe someone who said they've traveled from The future or from the past? What do you think would be easier to believe?
SPEAKER_01You're asking the hard questions today. I think it would be easier to believe if someone was traveling from the future because they would have some information that you perhaps wouldn't have shared with them. Whereas if they traveled from the past, it's not going to, I don't want to say it's not going to matter as much, but that's the only language that I can come up with. Like it's it's cool. You came from the past, you've you don't know the life we live today. I don't I don't know how else to explain that.
SPEAKER_00No, I think it would be easier to believe someone who is traveling back in time. So from someone from the future, if they have a piece of information or a piece of technology that just can't be explained any other way. I don't know though, like to think about my grandmother coming from the past or something and a pass her on the street and know it's her, but no, it can't be her. Right. That would be pretty cool too. That would be pretty cool. Have you ever had that experience yourself where you've been walking down the street and saw another version of you or felt like connected in that way, even if it didn't exactly look like you? Not that I can think of.
SPEAKER_01I think it would totally rock my world if I did, though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. See, I've had two experiences in which I crossed paths with someone who they didn't necessarily look like me, but like there was like something about the way they looked that was like, I felt like from the future or a message coming through. And one happened at the post office, and one happened when I was on a walk in Hawaii up near Diamond Head. We just passed and locked eyes. And I'm like, is that me from the future? I mean, she was older. That one could have been, she had the light hair, the blue eyes. Uh, the other one, I don't remember anything about what she looks like. Like my mind is completely white blank about physical appearance, but there was recognition there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I it that's that's a tough one. And what do you think that message could have been?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Just like we're checking in on you, or we're watching or you're on path, or something like that, or not gonna die young, or so I I don't know exactly what it was. Really, the one in Hawaii felt like it could have been me. And I know that sounds so strange. And again, they kind of wiped my mind about the the one in the post office, but I remember it as like one of those moments that slowed down and you're like, okay, take notes. Yeah. Maybe I'll know in like 25 years, maybe I will have an opportunity to travel back or to see my younger self on the timeline that I won't know now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, we are changing and and science is moving every day. So it very well could be that you did travel back to see yourself and you just wanted to give yourself a little nod or something to think about now. It's it's kind of like a mind, a mind-blowing conversation if you really step into it. Because if you think about it, you're talking about time traveling back to see yourself at a certain point in your life. And you could start thinking about that and exploring that now. And your life goal could be traveling back for that one moment. And you remember that moment starting years before you even get there.
SPEAKER_00I know it's such a circus or a circle or a loop or whatever you want to call it. And, you know, I do believe there are dangers associated with time travel. So maybe that's why I don't remember the lady's face. One of those dangers just being seen. Like if you're seen by someone that's always been in your life, what is that gonna do to that person? Right. How are they gonna react to it? And then there's the idea of disrupting any events in the future. Or anything that's already happened. Like so disrupting the timeline to the point where you're having causality loop problems or information that ties it. Like, okay, this happened, but why did it happen? Like it seems to have just happened out of the blue.
SPEAKER_01And what have you out of what have you affected forever and changed forever moving forward too? Sorry, I'm I'm I'm like sitting with everything that you're saying, and I'm like, oh, it it really can be, you know, that person coming back in time, giving us the, you know, lottery numbers and making us billionaires. Right. It seems like it's amazing and it it would change and make everything so much easier, but what is it really going to change and impact in the future?
SPEAKER_00That's so true. I mean, that's kind of where two ideas I came across. I mean, I came across, I just started writing things down. So one of them is called the grandfather paradox, and that's the idea that if you do something in your past timeline, you mess with something that it could cause your own existence to disappear, which is what happened in Back to the Future. Marty interrupted his parents' meeting, which then he started to disappear because that would mean he was never born. Right. Um, so there's the idea of that, and also the idea of the butterfly effect, which is when small accidental things happen that cause major unpredictable uh consequences for the future.
SPEAKER_01In other words, something really small that you go back in time and change could change literally, it could be cataclysmic, that's the word, to the entire even human race.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. You could delete timelines completely. So the butterfly effect then steps into those ethical dilemmas, which we kind of talked about before, and how it could lead to some immoral choices, doing things for your own personal gain. Right. And again, deleting timelines. So that's there too. And then the other one I came across is, and I kind of touched to it, if someone that you've known in your life sees you, you could cause them major psychological malfunction, biological issues. So yeah. It's really interesting. You're not intending consequences, though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's really interesting when you when you really step into it and look at potential. Like, and it's funny to think about the consequences and how one small thing could essentially change the direction of the universe if you really look into it. And then if you see yourself, like can you imagine if you were to go back in time and see yourself at the same age you were when you went back in time? Like, how would your brain be able to comprehend seeing you, knowing that it was most likely you in the future, or like trying to process through that? Like you're really talking about some major psychological circles daily.
SPEAKER_00That you have to work through, yeah, that you would have to close and you'd have to close them in a way that's not gonna cause you to be different in the future. You know, another idea there too is you could end up stuck there. That's true. Like, what if your time machine malfunctions and now you are permanently stuck? And what happens to you in the past? Exactly. It's really it's an interesting idea. It's an interesting idea. And I was just pulled back to a memory of when my kids were in summer camp and they were outside, it was an outdoor camp, and they were talking about the cycle of life and how if you remove just one thing, like the mosquito from it, everything else would collapse. So that's where I'm kind of thinking along the lines of time travel. So those are possible problems that you'd have to be sure that you were ready to be cognizant of. Yeah, ready to deal with, or ways around it if you were chosen to time travel, like in a scientific project or something. Right.
SPEAKER_01Ooh, that's that's a it's a it's a lot heavier than I think anybody realizes when they first start talking about it.
SPEAKER_00I that's what I found. I mean, it's so exciting to think about, but I mean, there are a lot there's a lot of responsibility I think that would go into making that decision to travel backwards in time if you can or forward if you can. Just blows my mind. Yep. And then, you know, they say scientifically you can move forward in time, theory of relativity and everything, but are there other ways you can time travel? In dreams, do you think you time travel? Absolutely. I think you can go back in time or forward in time and heal things. Yeah, I agree with you. Astral travel, you can travel to a time and place. I've done it myself, not to the future or back in time, but to visit someone in the current timeline. There's always the idea of being portals out there that could take you somewhere else. I mean, I think there's a show out there called The Hot Tub Time Machine. Now probably not really the way it happens, but it's a portal, it's a way to get there.
SPEAKER_01It's it's so funny that you brought that specific movie up. My husband was talking to me about Hot Tub Time Machine the other day, and he was like, Don't you think that it's kind of messed up that they were able to bring literally everything with them when they time traveled? And I looked at him and I said, You're talking about a movie called Hot Tub Time Machine. How accurate do you think it's actually going to be?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Probably not accurate, more for fun and sexy. Yeah. Although I haven't ever seen the movie, so I don't really know what it's about, other than that's their portal. That's their way to get from one place to another. There's also wormholes out there that Albert Einstein talked about, which are shortcuts in space. There are people or places, energetic loops, like we kind of talked about in Versailles, possibly stepping into a recorded memory. And then again, living your life one year at a time. You're not really traveling like you are right now because you're aging, but theoretically, that is time travel. Or there's a machine or a way to get past the speed of light to get to where you're going. Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's true. There's a lot there. There is a lot there. And I'm I'm just thinking about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, a lot to unpack. Do you have anything else you'd like to say right now about time travel? Because it it's probably something we'll revisit in the future too.
SPEAKER_01I will tell you that I'm attempting to travel back to the conversation regarding Hot Tub Time Machine, but I did just receive a message from my husband saying that's not how the story went at all. So I just wanted to make sure that my time travel story was not fully accurate. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I accept that. Well, now I do have three questions for the listeners, and I am gonna give them the question that I gave you earlier. Do you remember what it was? Ooh, you asked me so many good questions. What proof would you need? Yes, that's one of the questions. If someone came to you and they said they were a time traveler, what proof would you need from them? Do you think traveling back in time could change the present? Or do you believe everything would stay exactly as it was always meant to be? And the last question is if you had the ability to travel through time, would you go to the past or to the future? And why? Interesting. Very, really good questions. Our answers, because we've kind of discussed them, so maybe they've been thinking about some of those questions all throughout the episode.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00But there you have it. And with that, Stacy, do you want to close out this episode?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Stay curious.
SPEAKER_01Trust what you know, and we will meet you along the spiritual byway.
SPEAKER_00Until next time. Bye, everybody. Bye. Thank you so much for listening to this week's episode of Whispers from the Mist. Conversations from the Spiritual Byway. This show exists to make the paranormal film a little more normal, to create a space for curiosity, connection, and the kinds of conversations we don't always know what to have.
