In this episode Michelle, Stacy, and Carissa delve into the fascinating and unsettling world of the Love Has Won cult, led by the enigmatic “Mother God.” Inspired by the documentary Love Has Won: Cult of the Mother God, the hosts explore how a movement founded in love spiraled into bizarre practices, manipulation, and tragedy. They discuss the vulnerabilities that draw people into cults, the psychological impact of charismatic leaders, and the blurred lines between genuine spirituality and dangerous extremism. Reflecting on the harm such movements can cause to the broader spiritual community, they emphasize the importance of balance, grounding, and critical thinking. A gripping and thought-provoking conversation, this episode invites listeners to reflect on their own beliefs and the leaders they choose to follow.

SPEAKER_01

Hey everyone, on this week's episode of Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality, we are going to be taking a look at the mother god cult. We recently watched the documentary Love Has One. And wow, mind blown. And we have a lot to say and a lot to share. So let's get this episode started.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of Three Cups in a Dash of Spirituality. With me today are the beautifuls, Michelle and Carissa. Hi, ladies. Hi there. How are you? Hello. Hello, the beautifuls. That's what I'm going to call you moving forward. I like it. I'll take We have a freaking fun topic today.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I can't wait. I'm going to make it spicier. I hope you make it spicy. And I'm going to make it spicier.

SPEAKER_00

Carissa is bringing the spice. What are we talking about though?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'll bring in our topic today. We are going to be talking about cults and one cult in particular. And that would be the Love Has Won cult with Mother God. I will just give you a little background information. During the Holly Jolly times of the holiday season, we had our kids visiting. And one of my sons, instead of watching the movie Elf, said, Hey, do you want to watch this documentary? And it was on Love Has Won. And I couldn't turn it off. I couldn't turn away. And it got in my mind and it sat there. And so I brought it up to you guys. I know Stacy has watched all of it. Carissa was like, ah, so I don't know if you finished it, Carissa.

SPEAKER_02

No, I turned it off after. I'm like, this is absolutely ridiculous. But I got a lot to say. I got a lot to talk about.

SPEAKER_00

So I I'm gonna, I'm gonna start by saying that I have a really hard time with cults that step into things so hardcore, like this one did, because I think what it does to the intuitive community is I I think it destroys any opportunity for even a little bit of scientific or otherwise traction. It it destroys kind of the foundation that uh we work hard to create.

SPEAKER_02

Tell us a little bit about it. Okay, so disclaimer they may give you some things that happen. So press pause, go watch the documentary if you need to, because they're going to talk about a little bit about it because I didn't watch it. So I'm gonna be asking some questions. Tell us a little bit about it because I turned it off. All right, listeners, turn off if you don't want to hear this. I turned it off when I was like, You gotta be fucking kidding me. I've got a gray dead lady in bed, and and they've bombed her, and it's she's been in laying in that bed for how long? And they're calling her mother.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, like well, let me start by saying she was not gray, she was blue. That's very important. Blue, yep, blue, and she had been deceased, I think, for 12 days. Why was she blue? Colloidal silver. At that point in in this history, and Michelle, please jump in if you want to. They the treatment, her treatment, her medication was alcohol and colloidal silver. And that was what kind of alcohol? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What kind of alcohol? Yes, whatever was available, I I guess. And I think drugs were in there also. So this is a story about a lady who was brought up with her family, and she had a couple of kids, and one day she decided that there was something more, and she left her family and then started this spiritual journey in which she eventually was calling herself Mother God. And I, you know, I have belonged to, I don't even know how to say it, it's kind of uncomfortable for me to even talk about because it did really freak me out. But there are certain like groups on Facebook that I have belonged to, and some of the other members start calling the person whose group it is our queen. And at that point, I have to tap out and check out because nobody is my queen, and that's just giving them this weird, unnatural power, and that elevated so quickly in this series. Here she was a person, and all of a sudden, someone helped elevate her to the next level, and it just kept growing from there.

SPEAKER_00

And well, it was it was her, and then you had this person, other person join, and he was Gabriel, he was Archangel Angel Michael, Michael. I'm sorry, yes, you're oh, I'm only saying that because I was watching it going, that's not Archangel Michael. And he he was continuing to kind of just elevate her higher, and then you had the father god enter the picture, and there were multiple father gods, too. And what I will say, because I'm I'm you know, I do not believe in picking apart the deceased, and I'm not gonna tear her belief system up, is her initial goal was to unite people with love, hence the name of the the belief system. And when you step back and and the ultimate goal is love, like it can be a very beautiful thing. I think it just kind of transitioned away from that.

SPEAKER_02

I got a question. Her goal was love, but did she walk in with the the term mother god?

SPEAKER_00

Kind of came up eventually. I mean, I Michelle, and and and I can't remember how it came up, but it it was not, I don't believe it was how it started.

SPEAKER_02

So they called her by her regular name starting out.

SPEAKER_01

I would only hear her family refer to her as Amy, which was her name. In the documentary, no, it was always mother or mom.

SPEAKER_02

That is a hierarchy. So how can she come in and say she's actually starting it with love when it's all it's being built or it is developed into a hierarchy?

SPEAKER_00

When I watched it, my impression was that it transitioned into that after Archangel joined and and they started really pushing it because he was very much so influencing and feeding into that belief and and making it take traction as it were.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, yeah, I mean that's that's accurate, right, Michelle? Yes. And you know, this made me so sad because here you have people who are searching for something, the lives that they're living, the paths that they've been on hasn't been fulfilling them. And so they decide to make a change and turn to spirituality, turn to something that is all what they think is all about love. And Stacey, can you help me out here? I'm trying to explain it, but words are hard.

SPEAKER_00

Like they lost all sense of actual reality. They kept referring to this world as 3D versus 5D, and and it it really like kind of took off whenever, and I'm just gonna call her Amy because that just feels more right to me. But whenever she's you whenever she started to get kind of sick, what was she sick from though?

SPEAKER_01

Alcohol, liver failure, everything. She got herself involved in something, and this is the saddest part that she couldn't get herself out of. The whole goal here was for her to eventually transition. And she had a group of galactics, which included Michael Jackson, Robin Williams, all these people who were deceased that were guiding her. And her goal and the goal of everybody was to get her to ascend. And the only way you're gonna ascend is if you pass. So she is living that, living for that, getting sicker and sicker. And there were a couple of times she's like, I think I need to go to the hospital. And they're like, Nope, that's 3D. You don't really mean it. Yeah. And she couldn't get the help, right? They couldn't get out of it.

SPEAKER_00

She created a monster, she couldn't get out of it. She did. And and it's so funny that you say that because that was one of the biggest things that I picked up. And and I'm I'm I know you want to say something, Chrissa, but she in the very beginning was like, I will never go to a 3D hospital, I will never be seen by 3D doctors. It's it's against everything we stand for. So when she did get really sick, they said, No, you told us that you would get here and not to let you go.

SPEAKER_02

Did you was that on the documentary, her saying that to her followers or whatever they're called? They recorded everything she did in notebooks.

SPEAKER_00

Everything.

SPEAKER_01

How many sips of water she took? I mean, like the little details, what she ate, how many times she sneezed. It was all written. They had notebook after notebook after notebook.

SPEAKER_00

And they live streamed the majority of their lives as well. So it was all on the internet. And so, you know, kind of fast-forwarding a little bit to that that end where you're wondering how long she'd been there. At the end of her her life, she was living in like warm water, like esque, like constantly being bathed and moved because she was so uncomfortable that when she finally passed, everyone involved in this was actually, I believe a lot of them were arrested. But they were released because of the tox screens done on her body, which demonstrated that she passed from liver failure and colloidal silver poisoning.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, the silver is the one that embalmed her. So they didn't embalm her.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, but they wouldn't release the body also because their belief is she was going to ascend and she needed her physical body to ascend. And so they just kept waiting for the spaceship or whatever to come down and pull her back up so she could be reborn, basically. And they celebrated her passing because she's ascended and now she's gonna be even more.

SPEAKER_02

And what does this mimic or remind you of? Wanting to ascend, she's mother god, she's one Jesus, the cave, the body. Oh, yeah, of course. Yeah, I didn't know you were going.

SPEAKER_00

I was I wasn't sure where you yeah.

SPEAKER_02

My question is if we didn't have organized religion, because it's not just Christianity, they you have all on the east, they have Buddha, they have other like human being men that they have put up on a pedestal. If we didn't have these organized religions, I wonder if we'd have these types of cults.

SPEAKER_00

I think yes. I so I I think that human behavior dictates the need for for this kind of I'm gonna say control or power. And it is about control, it's essentially about control.

SPEAKER_02

It is, that's true. Human beings are about control, and I don't know, Stacy.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sure you picked up on this too. But one of the things I found so fascinating while watching this is we're hearing about her and this mission through all of her followers or those people dedicated to her. We got a few clips of her talking, but I'm not even sure what her message was. What I saw was a party. I saw the drinking, I saw this, but I don't know what her message was. They didn't put enough of that in there. Not that I would identify with it, but I really was kind of confused.

SPEAKER_00

I I was I I yeah. Long and short, yeah. I think what is the message? It well, it was ultimately that she was taking on the sins for humanity, is really what was I think was coming through. But what what you're saying, Michelle, and and what I picked up on too, initially when it first started, you would see her being coherent, and you would actually see this. I'm gonna say, I I think in the very beginning, it was very much so a very loving soul who it wanted this community, community, she wanted a family, a community.

SPEAKER_02

It also feels like she needed to be recognized, you know.

SPEAKER_00

That too, yeah, as a teen or early 20 as a manager position with no not that much experience, and then now she gets to be this this kind of creator, but after towards like the the middle beginning of the end, it was it was very much so. This this major party where there was drugs, alcohol, just endless supply, and the coherency went down the hole. And instead of hearing these loving messages that she actually started with, you would get these clips of her cursing everybody out, asking why they hated her. And it just it turned into this like really gross, not even message of just ew. It's the best words that I can come up with.

SPEAKER_01

That's a pretty good word to describe it. And as Stacy was saying, you know, she wasn't allowed to sleep. So when she was sleeping, it was she was meditating with people. She never slept. That this was a time she was talking to the galactics, and when she lashed out, it wasn't her lashing out, it was it was the galactic lashing out, or she was feeling so much pain from carrying everybody else's sins and misgivings and them not supporting her, believing in her.

SPEAKER_00

It really felt like she lost the sense of of self too. And they were raising money constantly inviting people to donate to to Mother, you know, Mother God. And she was getting whatever she wanted clothes, stuff. If she had, you know, some sort of whim, they would it would be purchased for her. And it was just it, it was really, really like this feeling.

SPEAKER_01

And that feeling was so much yuck. I mean, like she traveled from Colorado to Oregon. And then when she was starting to get bad, Hawaii, we need to go there. That's where the water is gonna protect you, or not protect you, but cleanse you, make you better, help you to transcend. But they get over there and they ticked off the whole island. They got run out of there because they made a comment about how she was Pele, the fire goddess, and the people there were not having it. She they were run out of town.

SPEAKER_00

That they were staying. And finally, I I believe if my memory is correct, that I was the mayor, the governor, I don't know which, but someone said, You need you need to leave. You can't, you're not welcome here anymore. And so they they got kicked out of Hawaii.

SPEAKER_02

And now I'm wondering about all were there any young, young followers, or are they all like I'm talking about like 19?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. I mean, it I mean, they some started at like 1920 and stayed kids.

SPEAKER_01

There was a lady who, when she first came in, brought her three kids with her, toddler baby, young child age. Yep. But her mother came and got the younger kids out. So she was missing her kids then later on in the story.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I know um Amy's family was like towards the end of her life when everything happened in Hawaii. I I think her sister comes on and says that's when she kind of started tuning in, not not in a negative way, but because she wanted to know who her sister was at this point in life. And when they saw how sick she was, like they they reached out and tried to get her help. And it just it couldn't happen. And I think what was it? The I think the FBI ended up getting involved, and like that's because they they ended up moving her body through different states after she passed, and that's illegal. So they I think did they end up back in Colorado?

SPEAKER_01

They did end up back in Colorado, and when they went there, Michael he had emptied all of their accounts, so they now had nothing after she passed, and he's the one that actually reported them to the police. They said they she brought or they brought this dead body back to my place, and it was in his name, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Everything was in his name, everything was in his name, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

She didn't own anything, so but I don't know you know much about cults. I know about spirituality, but again, as you kind of stated, starting out, Stacey, it kind of gives spirituality a bad name. Like I'm watching it going, I use some of that same terminology, but in my world it sounds so different. But maybe to other people they think it sounds like when the uh the cult was saying it. Like it it was just really weird. It was eye-opening to be like, oh gosh, yeah, I say that all the time. And I'm so different though. I'm not that those people, I'm not that person. That was a little disheartening.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm thinking of I'm wondering what the definition of a cult is. Is it a negative definition? What is the definition of a cult? I'm curious. What comes up?

SPEAKER_00

A cult is a group of people who share a set of unusual or extreme beliefs and practices, often centered around a charismatic leader.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm wondering it why cults, because I was thinking, why aren't cults illegal? Well, if you look at so many other spiritual regard, I'm not any kind of spiritual practice, any of them can go really extreme. They can't, any any of them, any of them out there, spiritual religion can. So how is it regulated?

SPEAKER_01

You know, I would think like if they're not out there breaking the laws of the people, everyone has free will. And if you're an adult and you're of age and you want to give all your money to this person and you want to live in a commune, that's like your choice. It's free will, and then that's why they couldn't help Amy's family, is because her free will, she's there by choice, she's an adult.

SPEAKER_00

So what I did find interesting is a lot of the places that they ended up like going to really didn't welcome them easily.

SPEAKER_01

Even in Colorado, where they were, it was a very spiritual community, and yeah, they struggle with it.

SPEAKER_02

So it's really when they have a criminal offense, but other than that, it can step in some adjustable. They're doing drugs, getting wasted, taking some silver. It's not illegal.

SPEAKER_01

No, and I mean, go back to Charles Manson. I mean, I don't really like comparing the two, but that's that cult mentality. They lived as a commune, they they traveled together, and it wasn't until they committed a crime that anyone could do anything. And I found it interesting also throughout the documentary, as Stacy said, Amy's parents got involved, but there was another member whose mom created a Facebook page to kind of try to combat them a little bit and to get her message out there and how she misses her daughter, and these are the things that are going on. And so her daughter just kept referring to her as the enemy. I mean, it's totally a mind.

SPEAKER_00

And it was interesting because it was through that that person that they ended up able to find where she ended up too. Like she was tracking them and kind of keeping not tabs on them, but like kind of following where they were. The mom was following.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because she wanted her daughter back and she wanted she she wanted her daughter safe. Like it was, it felt very much so like the majority that joined were just brainwashed. And you know, I I know I said it earlier, but the whims, the things that were being purchased, the dresses, everything that made her feel pretty, all of these things that kind of elevated her status, as it were, was not the same for the people that joined. Like you had to buy your way, do some work, step in. Like, I I remember there was one woman talking about getting a slice of pizza, and they were like, You gotta pay for that. Just because you're here doesn't mean you're getting stuff for free. And it was it just very interesting because they're streaming and they're asking for donations, and they're all, you know, welcome to the family, welcome to the family, but you gotta do something here.

SPEAKER_01

And once in there, I mean, everyone wanted to be around her and be in her inner circle. Her and her partner, her male counterpart, got a bed. Everybody else would sit around the floor and take notes and sleep on the floor just to be in the presence of. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just thinking a lot of you know, extreme spirituality, extreme religion. There is just trauma in their childhood, neglect, not not a big sense, strong sense of self. Okay, I'm looking at it psychologically, you know. I bet you didn't you didn't get a lot from her childhood.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and they all came from different backgrounds. We had people from the military there. We had a woman who at six year old 60 years old just got divorced. We had a lady, I think, that went to law school or was raised very wealthy, all giving it up. And you know, that really speaks to the need to have that spirituality and balance in your life, to have that thing that makes you feel good. But it just went too far. Like you can never fault anyone for trying to find that side of them. But when you get wrapped up in something, it's kind of like a machine and it just keeps building and snowballing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Trauma. Unresolved trauma. Yeah. It's it's, you know, bringing, you know, this kind of full circle. I I think this is where one of the key things with spirituality and growth and and even like psych being a psychic medium and and intuitive is finding that balance of human versus spirituality and being able to not just step into the spiritual aspect, but balance that with the human experience. Because if you lose one versus the other, that's when that extreme, you know, limits contestant and it really became it can become extremely unhealthy. And that's that that's both ways. You know, people who are completely shut off to spirituality are usually, and I'm not saying all the time, lacking in some like they they they feel that loss. Whereas getting lost in spirituality, which can easily happen, you lose the the whole purpose of of our experiences and and the joy of being human.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's the trauma, and they can't stay in reality, they make excuses for people, and then you and then you put in alcohol and drugs and silver. I don't know if everyone else was taking silver, if it was just Mother God. They were selling it.

SPEAKER_01

I remember correctly, that was one of their the things that they sold.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. And I I don't know, like I didn't do a lot of research on the colloidal silver. I had heard about it before, but it's it's it used it early, early, early, early medication. It was used, but it has been proven to be just pure poison.

SPEAKER_02

Really?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, like it's really not good for the body, like not even small.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I no, I've heard about it or seen it in herb stores, but well, I mean, I can't, I don't want to speak black and white that it's not, but it consists of a t tiny silver particles in a liquid, sometimes promoted on the internet as a dietary supplement. However, evidence supporting health-related claims are lacking. And then it says most doctors and scientists believe that the discoloration of the skin is the most serious effect of silver. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I mean, it was very interesting. And I didn't walk away feeling good about anything. I'm curious. I want to know more, but I just felt really sad for everybody. And they feel so much joy in their life. Like they truly, even after she passed, which was about a year ago, maybe two years ago, they're still carrying on the message. They're still finding joy in life.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Moving it forward. I don't know if the whole program is being moved forward, but individual people are still carrying that message forward.

SPEAKER_00

I was kind of, I'm I'm with you on that. You know, I when I finished the the whole thing, I walked away honestly feeling sad for this life that I feel like she ended up drowning in what she believed was a good movement. And while initially the message was of love, I think by the end of her life, it was more so convoluted that she was and she was so lost that it it just made you sad for the for the person. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_01

And I really don't know of any other cults that I can think of right off the top of my head where the leader was like the sacrificial lamb. Like they all saw her getting worse and worse, and she's the one that ended up passing away. I'm and and they just watched.

SPEAKER_00

And I mean, they kept they kept medicating her, but they kind of stepped back and watched. And it's you know, again, they were all released of any sort of lia liabilities, as far as I'm aware. It just yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It's that sacrificial thing, it's like Jesus on the cross. Could not imagine a man nailed, bleeding to death, and people having to watch. And it's it's it has that kind of feel, it's not the same thing, but it has that kind of sacrificial thing, which it's right, that's definitely so gross.

SPEAKER_01

And I don't know if they were all let off scot-free, because I don't think they explained it, but at the end of the episode, her last male counterpart had an ankle monitor on, so I don't know if he was still serving a punishment for the body or if it was something different.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that they didn't they didn't share that, and I don't I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was different than anything I've seen. I mean, you've hear about Colts, and I've never watched a documentary on one. I mean, I guess Charles Manson, but that was years ago, and his was totally different. But it's all pretty much the same premise.

SPEAKER_02

They've got a leader, yeah. The charismatic leader.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and that's and that's where you know, I think one of the biggest takeaways is just to be mindful and find a balance, you know. What does balance look like? It's different for everybody, and I mean that's really all you can do.

SPEAKER_01

And I love that you brought that to everyone's awareness because yeah, you don't want to go too far to the other side, then you just kind of lose touch with that human element, too. And we're here for the human experience, and there's gotta be balance there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, listen, everybody needs a little bit of therapy. You got one imperfect person married to another imperfect person. There's gonna be issues, you're gonna have to work through something, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So do you still need your while you're everyone, everyone has trauma, everyone's trauma is different, everyone wears their trauma differently, everyone has trauma.

SPEAKER_01

Well, thanks for like walking through this with me and helping me that was get it out of my energetic system because it was just kind of sitting there and it really was bugging me a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

Probably more than a little bit, actually. It was intense, it was definitely thank you, thank you for inviting us to to chat about it. I think I I mean I I don't want to say I enjoyed it.

SPEAKER_01

I thought I thought it was interesting, definitely yeah, I learned a lot, and you know that's part of that human journey too is learning and recognizing also. So yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I think that's a great place to close off, unless anybody has any major words of wisdom.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm just gonna say we'll put the name of the show in the show notes. If you guys want to go watch it to see the full story and how it all plays out, and if you have thoughts about it that you'd like to share with us, you know where to find us, either social media or at our email address.
