Hey everyone, on this week's episode of Three Cups and a Dash of Spirituality, we are going to be talking about a recent visit I had with the Velisca Axe House. And you do hear the word axe in there. I am Michelle and I'm here as always with Stacey. Hello, everybody. And Carissa. Hello, hello. I am so excited and nervous and giddy to be here because yeah, and we're gonna talk about the Veliska Axe House.

Well, I want to I see, like I already want to like surpass some of the things, and I'm gonna go into well, I'm gonna ask you one question first.

What happened at 2 or 3 a.m.? Anything? How were y'all sleeping?

At that that axe house? Yeah, we didn't spend the night there. We we left like at 111 in the morning. Would you have stayed there, Chrissa? Would you have stayed there? Yeah, if there's a couple bed clean. We didn't get to sleep in the beds.

Oh, well then no, absolutely not.

Actually, when we got there, the the caretaker of the property did say if we wanted to sleep in the beds, or obviously new beds, we could, but we just stayed at the Airbnb. I thought you were getting to the point where we scared ourselves so bad that even though there were like four bedrooms there, we all slept in one bedroom because it had bunk beds. So we had a little slumber party.

Wait, what scared you? Was it just everything that happened that you're gonna tell us, or was there something in the Airbnb?

It's just that feeling of being somewhere where the energy is different. We're talking amongst us, you know, we see things going on. We're tapping in with our guides, they're saying protect, protect, protect. And so we're just like, well, just look after each other too. And we're out in the middle of nowhere, which scares me because I've been to locations or read about locations where oh yeah, get messed with. But okay.

All right, we'll start from the beginning. Okay, well, I'll start from the You gotta share the story now because we got like we the the the pebbles. Let's let's hear this.

Oh, so many pebbles. Well, first of all, I'm gonna share that the Vallisca Axe House is in a town in the town of Valliska, Iowa. A story behind it is in June of 1912. So actually June 9th of 1912 to the morning of June 10th, 1912. Horrific crime happened there. A still unknown assailant because while someone was charged, they got off, but a still unknown assailant entered the house and he killed two adults and six children. Four of the children were theirs, and then there were two girls who were also spending the night at the house. No survivors. They were found the next morning. A neighbor, Mary Peckham, she alerted the father's brother that something was going on, and then it just started this whole show of everything that happened. People walking through the crime scene, taking things because back then, you know, you're in a quiet, sleepy town of Valliska, Iowa. You need stuff. You need stuff. And yeah, like souvenir souvenirs, like from the body. Yeah, people would walk through there, and you know, I it's really weird to go somewhere like that because I've never been in a house where something that horrific has happened and had to place myself back in the time because I'm used to living in 2024. We have TV, we have social media, we know the things that could happen in the world. I just kept going back to the mind space of those people there. They, the little girls, they probably didn't know there was such tragic things that could happen. And as they're sleeping and they're hearing the noise upstairs, because being in that house, there's no way you didn't know that something was going on because you heard everything, but they probably didn't realize it's anything to be terrified for that they should leave.

Can I interrupt with a question? You can really quickly. So you walk into this house essentially that has this horrific crime that took place in it. What did it feel like when you walked into the space?

And see, that's the very, very interesting part. And Zanaida and Bonnie, they went with me and we thought we had overprotected ourselves walking in because the feel of that house was completely different than the feel of the Sally house. When we walked into the Sally house, it was immediately everything was standing up. You were on alert, you felt very uncomfortable, very jumpy. Walking into this house, it felt like we needed to be quiet. It felt like we needed to show our respect. And so we walked into the kitchen, and the three of us had already decided that the kitchen was going to be our safe place. And the table was set like it would have been back then. So we quietly removed everything. I don't think we said a word to each other. We were just very respectful and very quiet in there when we first walked in.

That's interesting. And the energy wasn't heavy. What was the energy like, Chris? Heavy, light, following.

It was just energy, just like walking into a house. It just had a stillness about it that needed to be respected. And that's the the biggest thing I could say about that experience walking into the house.

I will say that that actually creeps me out more than feeling a heavy energy, if I'm being completely and totally honest. Almost like something hiding. It's like, yeah.

Yeah. I will say that during this trip, I mean, there's so much that happened getting to entering the house. So I can go back and pick up on those things. But yeah, it did really feel like there was something in there messing with us. Like it knew we were coming. And we were super again protected. We did a group protection, we did our individual protection. But walking in there, it was a trickster energy. We had my polar script, which is kind of like the spirit box, but easier to navigate because it'll show the words. And we turned it on and we started getting words that the three of us could identify with. So it's like this energy knew we were coming and it was messing with us a little bit. So it felt very trickster-like energy. And when we walked into the house, which I mean, so much ties back to the Sally house also. The clock, if you remember at the Sally house, was set to three o'clock. All the clocks or the clock that I saw was set to three o'clock there too. So I'm like, oh, that's just another weird, weird coincidence.

It is a weird coincidence.

Yeah. So I was talking a little bit about what happened there, how we got to the Velisca house, because again, however long ago I didn't know anything about it. But again, interesting coincidences Bonnie sends it to our group text, like, we should check out this place. And I'm like, where is it? And she's like, Iowa. I'm like, oh, that's so crazy. My mom is having her birthday. She's from Iowa. And I have been getting drawn back to Iowa lately. Like my mind, my heart, like I had been thinking of Iowa. So I'm like, of course it's Iowa. And then later that night, she was watching Wheel of Fortune, and the clue or the answer to the puzzle was Iowa City, Iowa, which was just so weird. And then like two days later, another friend sent me the link again and said, we need to go check out this place. So it's like, okay, this is the next place on our list. So that's kind of what started it. Bonnie, then a couple weeks later sends a message and she goes, You know, the address is the same as a Sally House. I'm like, what? And it is. One is 508, like East 2nd, and the other one is 508 North Second or something like that. I'm sorry, I'm getting the directions wrong. So that was another tie-in. And then we had a meeting a couple weeks later, and we were trying to decide what day to go, but the time that we picked was the anniversary of everything that happened. So we went into the house on June 12th. They were buried on June 12th. The crime happened on June 10th. And because I have to investigate everything, the calendar years were the same. So what happened on a Sunday Monday? This year happened on a Sunday, Monday. So it was the same calendar year. So that was very interesting. I want to hear more. I want to hear more. On my way, I leave my house on June 10th. I randomly pick a podcast to listen to. It's one I've maybe heard one episode on Flagstaff years ago, but I must have had it downloaded on Lake Lanier. And I'm like, oh, okay. This sounds like a really great episode to listen to because we were there. That's where I met Carissa and Ida, everyone in person. And so I started listening. And I'm thinking to myself, it would be really weird. Like if it mentions the Velisca Axe House in this this episode at all, I'm just done. I'm just floored. And what happens? Of course. It mentions in the most random, roundabout way, the Veliska Axe House. And I'm like, are you freaking kidding me right now? So I'm at the airport and I'm standing in line waiting to get on the plane. And behind, I thought it was behind me, but I hear someone say, quake. I heard it in my outer ear. And so I turned around thinking it was the kid behind me, but he was totally engaged in another conversation. It wasn't. I'm like, how weird. Something just whispered in my ear. Well, I get on the plane. They start talking about an energy in the Veliska house that whispers in your ear. So I'm like, of course. Okay, so we all meet at the airport, and I kid you not, the computers went down when we rent it to rent whole airport in the rental car center. Just like happened at the Sally house when all the computers went down at the grocery store. I'm like, of course, this is happening to us. We luckily get out the gate, we're driving. All of a sudden, the emergency light goes on in the car.

And I'm like, what you're saying is basically the entire universe is trying to tell you not to go to the Velisca house.

Or the Velisca House is trying to distract us from going. But it only ties in because it's the same thing that happened on the way to the Sally house. Like the car started giving us alarms, the computer system went down. We drove to town. Of course, we're going to go by the house, even though we're not staying there. And each of us felt sick. Bonnie got a really bad headache. Zanaida started feeling it in her body and got like a really constricted throat. And it only happened when we were there. So that was really interesting, I thought. So those are all the things leading up to it. Then we go to the house, we get to meet the caretaker, and his name is Johnny Hauser and Emily. He was on the podcast that I was listening to on the airplane. So it was kind of cool to get to meet him. Very cool person. We did a tour of the cemetery. So we got to see where everyone was buried. The number 12 before leaving seemed very, very important. And it kept playing throughout this whole thing. One of the victims was 12. This is like the 112th anniversary of the crime happening, all of that. I found out Mary Peckham, who I felt very drawn to because she is also a victim in this whole thing because she didn't really live much longer. The trauma of finding this family, you know, these kids were like grandbabies to her almost. She watched them grow.

Yeah, she died on December 12th, 1912. So a lot of 12 energy there, a lot of fox energy there. And the fox kept reappearing throughout the whole trip. So now we're in the house. I already said that it was very still. I already said that the polar script was really calling to us, a very trickster-like energy, but it was very, very quiet. Now, one of the things this house had in it was an attic, and inside this attic were these dolls. And you know, I am not a fan of freaky dolls. I'm not a fan of dolls at all anymore. And you know, we go in there, and there's one doll in there in particular, and she has notes that people have written to her apologizing for taking her picture. Oh, it was really freaky. It was really, really freaky. It was kind of, yeah, it was kind of freaky. So there was, you know, the living space downstairs with the room where the girls slept. You go up the stairs, the parents' bedroom, the kids' bedroom. So we spent time in each of the rooms.

I'm sorry. I'm still stuck on people writing the doll a letter to apologize for taking why because that that that makes me go, what happened when they left the house? What experience that made them feel drawn to write the doll an apology letter? Because that to me says there is some kind of some attached to that doll somewhere somehow.

And they were you need to go back and write a letter, Michelle.

No, I didn't know. I dolls freak me out. I wasn't taking any pictures of the dolls, but um, it was if you took a picture. Yeah, I think so. That's what it said. And I know Bonnie might have, I'm not sure, but I would we were asking Johnny about it, and apparently that's a doll he brought into the house, but he sent it to many different locations, if I remember correctly, to sit in the energy of that home and then brought it back.

Like oh, okay, yeah. So it's got it's got some stuff happening.

Yeah, it's got some stuff happening. It was just like this experience inside the house. We did hear some knocking, we heard some stairs. The creepiest thing, not the creepiest thing, well, it was kind of creepy. A storm kind of rolled in, and we were all upstairs in the attic, and we heard little girls laughing. And so we left the attic, went outside to see if there was anybody around, and there was nobody out on the streets, but we all heard it with our outer ear. I did hear the train go by several times. Again, first time we heard it was at 612, again that 12, and it was the date too. We were able to assist a little bit there, and that happened right around midnight. And as soon as it turned midnight, I'm like, we need to go downstairs. We need to not come back up here. We need to go downstairs. And so we went down to the kitchen, and that's when we had the activity of the EMF going off, the cat balls going off, the candle like lighting up on its own. And it only happened in the kitchen area.

Our safe space not want to be upstairs any longer.

That's always it was just a feeling like we need to exit the space. I I'm not coming back.

I I guess I I want I want to step into that feeling because it I mean, it can be one of things respect, they want their space back, or it can be I'm trespassing against, you know, somebody that that essentially is still here, right?

SPEAKER_00 15:35

So that's what it felt like the last one that we were trespassing, that it didn't really want us there. Because at one point, I believe I said something like, if you want us to go, just light up a ball. And it did something similar to that. So we had those experiences sitting in the living room. The other experience we had was I was looking into the room where the girls were, and all of a sudden there was a black door there. I could not see anything. And so I did ask Johnny about that the next day, and he said, Nobody's ever said that before, but there was a door like that there prior. Little things like that just kept happening. The house had a draw, it had a trickster energy. And I did forget to share this earlier, and this is kind of a big part of the story. When we went to Velisca, we are strangers in this town. It is a small town. They know why we're there. So we went to dinner at the one place to have dinner. There was a group sitting behind us, and as they went to leave, one of the men, they're older, probably 70s, 80s, came and sat at our table. And I'm like, oh, well, maybe this is just a small town thing. It's making me a little bit uncomfortable, a little bit of heebie-jeebies, but okay. He sat with us and he was a pastor. And he had just he said retired. And then the next man that came up to him was a state senator from Vallisca, Iowa, which cool. We didn't know that until after he left. And the waitress was like, Oh, you just met our state senator. But he's like, Hey, can I show you a tour? Do you want to come tour my farm? I mean, just nice, but like a little like, you know, we live in 2024. And leave me alone. Let me alone. Yeah, just a little bit. But when she said that he was a state senator, I'm like, I'm gonna look up his name. Well, I again I said there were four people who were ever considered suspects. One was a reverent and one was a state senator. And there have only been two state senators from there. And we so we essentially met people representing that energy while we were there. And that was just kind of like okay. And that's probably why we all slept in the same room because that was just really weird.

Yeah. What made you leave the house?

SPEAKER_00 17:44

I think it was the idea that we'd already done everything we were supposed to do, and we didn't really want to sleep there. And our Airbnb was like seven miles away. So we just decided to leave at that time. We probably could have slept there. I think we would have gotten a little bit more, and I would go back there, but it kind of attached to me a little bit. Like the energy kind of was there. Stacy had to help me cut the cords. So I'm I'm not sure I'm ready to step back into that energy for that reason. It didn't just kind of attach to you, just to throw that out there. Yeah, it left its mark, let's say. I just I stepped out of that house and I stepped into a lot of chaos in my personal life. Like everywhere I turned, something was happening that wasn't the greatest. And Stacy helped me balance from that. Yeah, so that was my Veliska experience. I wish you guys could have been there, and I'm looking forward to our next adventure.

Well, I hope I did the house justice. I'm sure there's a ton of stuff that I forgot. Oh, yeah, here's one more thing. Just real quick, because I know I need to wrap up this episode. So we heard the little girls in the house laughing at 9:30 p.m., which is only significant because after we left the house, it came to our attention that on the day the incident happened, they were walking back home from the church at 9.30 p.m. It's the only time that was cited. And for about a week in my own home, between 8:45 and 9.30 every night, something happened. A weird sound that wasn't supposed to be there, a sound like someone was coming in the house. Like it was weird. I think those timelines were just kind of meshing. They were just kind of like this.

Maybe you talk to your guide and say, listen, take us to lighter places. I go to the lighter places.

And again, it felt light enough. It didn't feel that heavy. And we all really thought we just protected ourselves so much. We knew our guides were with us. We really thought we were totally protected, but it was that fox trickster energy. And the fox was really big symbolism or part of their story. So it was a trickster energy. I can definitely see that for sure. Yeah. When you're on path and you're doing those things you're supposed to do, the universe is gonna throw you those clues, those pebbles, and you just keep following, and they just become tighter and tighter knit until you can be there and have an experience.

What was your learning lesson? What'd you get from it? Like how did you evolve or grow about anything? Or did you?

That's a good question. I think my learning lesson was just be open to the experience and how it's gonna unfold because we were so focused on the fact that we needed so much protection that maybe we didn't think it all the way through. I don't know how to even explain it. It's just that again, every house is different. Everywhere you go, you're gonna have a different experience. And it's just walking in and just physically being able to feel that difference. Is it light? Is it heavy? Are they tricking me? And maybe I'm a little more aware of what trickster energy feels like now.
